I am such the proud Mommy right now. I just attended Angel's graduation from college. All the years I had to come second to classes, all the nights we postponed or cancelled playtime to study, all the nights I had to calm him down when he was panicking about deadlines... it is all so very worth it. I get to do this again in a few years when I get to watch Fox walk down the aisle and get his diploma as well. I know I am not the only one who owns a student, or some of you might be owned BY a student. Working around school is difficult. It can mean distance, it can mean plans going crazy, it can mean more stress than you ever considered and wondering why you got involved in the first place. However, I wouldnt have traded today for the world. I saw him walk across the stage, heard them call his name (his real one, of course, though the program he gave me had Angel pencilled in next to his name :) ) and realized that it was all worth it. The speaker had everyone stand up in the audience and had the students give us a round of aplausefor being there to support them through everything. After the ceremony, Angel hugged me and told me he might not have made it through to graduate if I hadnt been there for him through all the stress and the hard times. Even when they threatened to rip us apart, he never doubted I would be there, and now, it has paid off. With the degree he cal follow his dreams, and he said thank you to ME for helping him get there. For everyone out there waiting (mostly?) patiently for graduation day, no matter what yu go through now, watching your loved one walk and get their degree makes it well worth it. DV
