Go and tell 'you own your life' to some of the slaves on these boards! I suspect this is what you'll hear as a result: [sm=lalala.gif] .

PS: the music was a tad dramatic, wasn't it?

Yup, that sure was a link to a tedious flash movie, with no context or comment. Good job!

Liberty includes the right to select a master for yourself.

I thought it was somewhat appropriate for the serious nature of the topic. YMMV

I enjoyed the little demonstration. It emphasizes the dangers of just a deomcracy without the rule of law. It emphasizes the dangers of a government that does not serve the people. It mentions repeatedly about ownership of your own life, and personal accountability is severely waning in today's society.

What I disagree with is when someone says you have the right to do or not do something, and expect just words to make it so. A right not exercised is one that has not been taken ownership of. At a certain point civilization has to be balanced with adversity, and rights should be challenged and defended, or they become just dust covered ideas.

I believe that most people either believe the idea of liberty is an illusion, so they do not believe in it strongly, or they have not had it challenged so they do not have as great an appreciation for it. Then again these are areas I read much about, think much about, and act when election day comes.

Thanks for sharing.

... some of us believe that liberty is being challenged, but that many around us seem either unaware or indifferent to it.

I'm glad you enjoyed the demonstration.

Is this some really confusing colourful way of telling me where the nearest toilet is?

Lux Lucre needs some help on his flashwork I can't force him to improve himself by throwing hands at him but I can hit him with a hammer.[8|]

I admit that my interest was primarily in the message being presented, not in the visuals and audio.

Then plain English translated into a multitude of global languages would have worked better don't you feel? After all not all thieves creep about with loot bags.

“When there is state there can be no freedom, but when there is freedom there will be no state.”

Liberty in the West has been eroded, challenged and compromised through a gradual process over the past 20-30 years.

The UK and the US governments have been successfully building totalitarian regimes over many years which are just as oppressive as those found in Eastern Europe during the time of the Cold War.

There is enough legislation already in place to remove any one of your civil liberties as a result of one phone call.

There has been a concerted effort for many years to stop people having and using cash and to use direct debits, standing orders, credit cards, etc.

Both Governments already have centralized data banks. The new databanks and so on are just the authorities letting you know that they have you on file.

One click of a mouse on any one of these computer systems and you're gone - and I mean GONE.

You see the problem is here in the West we have always had liberty. We take it for granted. People either know and aren't bothered, they're bothered and they don't know what to do, they don't care, they don't believe, or they simply pretend it isn't true.

It's almost as if people need to lose their liberty to understand really what liberty is. I can see this time getting closer and closer, and I sincerely hope that we will succeed in getting back what it seems we are about to lose.

Thanks subfever for sharing that.

The exact thing I thought was, so much for the slaves around here, especially of the TPE variety.  It also wasn't surprising that it came from a libertarian site.

It was painfully slow (I'd just rather read the text than wait for a primitive flash animation).

I truly hope I'm wrong, but I don't see the people coming together in time, until it is too late.

It seems to me that far more people talk about liberty, than those who pursue or embrace it.
