ORIGINAL: celticlord2112 quote:
How can you not see that the left is as guilty as the rest? It was niether the right nor the center that created this monstrous system that we call welfare. I am talking about a system that teaches people it is easier to do nothing and draw a government check than go out and earn their money. If the hard left had their way, we would all be locked in this cycle and be totally dependent on the feds. Did they start out with good intentions? Who knows? Who cares? They screwed up and now don't even have the balls to take the blame. Why shoud this surprise anyone? Personal responsibility and accountability are the very things the hard left argues most strenuously against. No it isn't. It is against the exploitation of the weak by the strong. As I pointed out in another thread, if it wasn't for the rich stealing the land of the poor, forcing them to live in overcrowded and deseased conditions and work unexceptionally long hours for a pittance, no one would have ever thought of socialism. The irony is, that most middleclass and blue collar people who complain about the left wouldn't have it so good if it wasn't for the left. However, people on relatively modest incomes who appear to believe in welfare for the rich (which capitalism is) probably deserve to be back in the desease ridden ghettoes and factories of the 19th century.
