Sigh.. I am lucky in that Master makes the majority of our toys and dungeon furniture, but the last trip to Tandy nearly gave me a heart attack. I seriously considered contacting one of the Angus farms and buying a whole yearling, then tanning the hide myself. could get more than a few whips out of it as well as steaks, bones/hooves for handles and the dogs. Hmmmm.  My grandparents were sticklers for the use everything except the squeal method of farming and I still have skills. If Grandma had known that they were going to make movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre before she sold the farm after Grandpa's death I have the feeling she would have saved the squeal and sold it to them as well. Hmmm maybe I should check the zoning for chickens here..bug control, lawn aeration and dinner on the wing. Woods at a premium as well, especially in the Hurricane zones..but fortunately he has a good supply of metal bars from when he worked Recycling, ages ago.

We are only hitting the Woodshed once a month right now..would like for it to be more but at $40 a pop it is a tank of gas at current prices..not counting the gas to get there and back. Eating out has curtailed a bit and Master is finding new and unusual foods on the table instead of the small steaks and chicken breasts he would prefer. Hell to be honest steak is cheaper than hamburger if I hit the BoGo and I can stretch it further. I buy the Hunk O Meat size Roasts and grill one for about 4 meals, including using it in frajitas and chili or stroganoff. People are still always welcome to drop in and friends in the area do, but we will carpool places these days like Munches to save on Gas, and talk more online or by phone.

Fortunately Masters company flies him all over the country and decided this year I can use the companion pass earned to go with him. This means we can meet up with people anywhere he lands, as long as Southwest airlines goes there. Thats one way to get out and meet people who chose this life.

One thing that has been a blessing for our building, repairs, etc. has been the proliferation of buy now pay in 6-12-18 months interest free. What we purchase and yes we are very careful gets amortized and the payment deposited in Stocks (the money not the fun kind). Master is damned good and so far we have realized a profit (knock wood) on every interest free purchase. We don't exceed in debt however, what we can liquidate tomorrow and pay off if push came to shove. Neither of us ever wants to be one paycheck away from disaster.

They (higher prices) haven't affected me at all. In fact I am more interested in expanding my fetish expenditures.

I don't go to Atlanta to play as often as I used to.  I don't make half of the trips to surrounding munch groups that I would like to attend.  I'll be at SELF, but doubt I'll go to DomCon in the same year.  I doubt I'll spend any real money in the vendor's market, which is ok.  I already had to thin the toy bag out a bit recently.

The rising costs applies in many places about this ever shrinking world. However whilst some find that trips to dungeons are either a thing od the poast or occur less frequently, there are alternatives if enough people can actuslly agree to work together and form a local group to allow people to enjoy their kink.  I have had this happen many times in many different areas of my life from Kink to the para military  in the midst of opperations in some gawd forsaken part pf the world.. All you do is ---- Analyse and Improvise then get on with things. No sence in brooding about what you can't fix.

Not really, we tend to budget for extras pretty well.  Our problems tend to be more "How do we go to the Solar Forum, Airshow, Kinky party, Pressure point demo AND look at new apartments in one day?"

It hasn't. I play with the toys I already have, I don't care for clubbing or munches, so we're not affected there gas wise or entry fee wise , I don't need fetish clothing nor do I have a desire for any. I play privately at home.

Now if you were to ask how did it affect my regular life then I'd tell you it did and how, but you didn't ask that lol oyu asked how it affects my kinky life.

With everything costing more I find that I am not purchasing any new fetish toys.  I'm looking into more home made devices for play.

Also I live in Rockford Illinios and use to travel into Chicago to serve.  Now I find that making a round trip of close to 200 miles is costing a hell of alot more than it use to.  So I do not travel as much and will not be joining any dungeons in Chicago  for awhile.

This is how it has affected my fetish lifestyle, how about you?

pearlmoon do you make pieces for women that are allergic to metal. The only metal my daughter can wear is gold. Ok kittin you hit my turn on button with the mention of prawns.

Dnomyar,

I had a friend who was similar. she had to cover her belt buckles in duct tape it was so bad.

Honestly it would greatly help if your daughter gets an allergy test to narrow down what compound or eliment she is allergic to. but usually it has to do with common steels(even if they are plated) and silvers which most jewlery is made out of.  has she tried Titanium, Titanium is slowly making its way into vanilla jewlery but has been used as a Piercing jewlery for many years for people who were allergic/sensitive to even the Purest Highest quality stainless steels.

speaking of stainless: if she hasn't tried that: Many high quality stainless steels are hypo-allergenic since the impurities that rust or tarnish are often what causes the allergic reactions. an easy way to test that is to just go to a reputable piercer and buy a basic earring loop (assuming she already has pierced ears)
Stainless steel is one of my favorite materials for jewlery I have to rings that are stainless and I never have to clean them or polish them etc. and there are only minor scratches in places that would have full Gouges in other jewlery.
the problem with stainless is that there are many many different levels. Surgical stainless is actually a range not a particular type. and even that can be deceiving since a stainless steel can be acceptable for surgery but not implant grade(obviously jewlery should be implant grade since it will be left in or on the body)

I'm honestly don't remember where platinum stands but if i want to say its on the same level as titanium when it comes to allergic reactions.... but again not sure on this one.

hope this helps a little
Cheers
Skully

hmm when I travel I stay with friends instead of the hotel... (which is more fun honestly)

I was going to place a full custom order of about $2500.00 in whips and floggers all matching a custom dyed color but now instead I have to piece meal it and I've settled for a quite simliar but stock color.

cheers
Skully
