In exactly fourteen days, I will acheive the most notable thing I've managed to do so far in this life.  My eldest daughter will graduate from high school!  I am so freaking thrilled, I could puke.

On top of this wonderful feat, and one of the few bonuses of my miserable job, is the fact that I've lost 45 pounds in the past year.  I look fantastic, and I want to flaunt it just a little!

So, I'm looking for the best dress.  I'd like it be sexy without being trashy, more "Stacey's Mom" then "Debbie Does Dallas."  I'm hoping it will be warm enough for a sundress, but it's hard to tell in this weather.  I got a new tattoo this year, too, and I'd love to show it off.  I don't have a bunch of money, so discount sites would be best.  I've done the Target/JC Penney/Sears route here in town, but I couldn't find anything I really liked.  Bergner's had the perfect dress, but they had it in, like, sizes 1 to 4.   The clerks acted brain dead when I asked if there was a way I could get it in my size, and I didn't see it on their website.

Any suggestions on where to look?  The clock is ticking, and I don't have a dress yet.

Thanks in advance.

not 100% sure what your budget is like, but this site seems to have a good selection... the sizes seem to range from 4-14 hope it helps

Congratulations on the graduation and your weight loss!
I buy a lot of dresses from Frederick's of Hollywood (clearance). They have some very nice dresses for not a lot of money.

Good luck in finding the perfect dress.

the sales clerk should have called another store and offer to send it to you.  apparently you have a bad clerk who didnt give a crap about doing their job.  to bad there wasnt a herbergers in your city you would have gotten better service.

About to be bluntly honest, but if you don't want to look trashy, I would advise you not to show off your tattoo.

its hard to convince any high school graduate in this day and age to give a crap about thier job for <8.00 per hour

back on the subject though.... What might work out real well is seeing if you have a friend that can sew well, most of my more expensive-looking clothes (kilts, leather and the like) were made by friends I bribed with cookies

I would recommend them also, and they post new markdowns every Weds on their website.  you can find something beautiful for a great price.

Stick with a classic.

something you can wear again.

Kittensol--ordinarily I would agree with you, but the tattoo was gotten to commemorate her 18th birthday, and she wants me to show it off for her.

Katylied-While it's her accomplishment, it's also mine.  I've been a single mom pretty much since she was born, and this is as much my party as hers.  I have every intention of celebrating until my eyes bleed!!!  I worked my BUTT off to get her here and sacrificed much, including my own college education.  I've earned it, too.

Everyone else, thanks for the great links!  I am going to do some good shopping.  I might go back to Bergner's and talk to some management types.  They might be able to help.  My shopping options are limited, but the internet is always open.  Thanks, everyone!

..a rare occasion where we disagree KS. A beautiful tat is, in my opinion, about as far from trashy as one can get.......
