In a game against Central Washington last weekend, Western right-fielder Sara Tucholsky was running to first base when her right knee gave out, causing her to collapse just moments after hitting her first homer, The (Portland) Oregonian reported Wednesday. In a move of selflessness, Central first baseman Mallory Holtman and teammate Liz Wallace volunteered to carry the injured opponent around the bases, the newspaper reported. Western reportedly took the game 4-2, crushing Central's hopes of making it to the NCAA Division II playoffs. "In the end, it is not about winning and losing so much. She hit it over the fence and was in pain and she deserved a home run ...," Holtman said. maybe if more folks in this world were willing to do something similar for each other, this wouldn't be such a screwed up planet. it was a thoughtful thing to do, it didn't hurt anyone and everybody felt pretty good about the whole thing on both sides. can't say that about much these days. PM

* scratches head# that didnt happen on c-span this week when the dems dissed the pouty GOP into delay of 80billion in war funding. ? Pelosi now in iraq. hmm, they said she dont care..... warfare has changed, but not really. the American revolution was not in red coat uniforms., it was not an army per say. well now that we arrived a few centuries of mideast war will surely end and peace will prevail now that we are there.... oh to the OP, good for good sportsmanship! big smiles!!!
