Sites are being cracked down on by the LAW concering BDSM material. To much of it involves legality issues. I'm not sure how far it will go with poem, books, and such that you can buy in store and online but Websites and there owners/participants are are being shut down by athorities when it comes to BDSM.

We are obviously way too demented and dangerous a people (lifestyle?) and we have to be watched VERY carefully. Gawd forbid we might actually write something about BDSM AND be creative too! The 'moral majority' just couldn't have that, could they?

thetammyjo -> RE: creative writing? (10/14/2005 8:50:30 PM)

I think its more fear of being shut down than a large scale attack.

Why waste the money and peoplepower to actually charge anyone when folks will just start pulling stuff on their own?

No, I don't like people tampering with free speach -- my writing stays up on my website. Then can take me to court if they bloody well like.

Simply because they can and it makes em feel important, showing the world how "superior" they are...<gag>

Tammy Jo
I agree, if they want to come after me personally because I keep my writing on my website. <shrugs> I can not stop them but then I do not have 1000s of people as members of my site either.<laughs>

It does have something to do with that, yes.

I know of no onethat actually WANTS the FBI to storm into their homes, take whatever they feel they want to take knowing that you will most likely never see that stuff ever again, and disrupt their lives on all levels, especially if they decide to slam you in jail while they sort out whether or not you actually did anything wrong.

I don't know about you, but I personally just don't want that interruption of my life right now. Even to make a stand. There are other people have have greater resources than I do to take such a stance, and though it saddens me to say it as I always thought I'd be willing to stand and bite the bullet for my artistic freedom, right now I'm just wanting to hunker down and see what happens. The first cases haven't even really started being fought in our court system yet, and I'd like to get some idea of how those are going to go down first before I make a final decision.

*sigh* And yeah it sounds wussy to me too. And I hate it. But I'm thinking right now I could do greater good to wait and see how and where things are going before jumping on the bandwagon and screaming take me take me take me. I'd hate to see the communities and resources I worked so hard to build for others be yanked away from them when I can just wait and see and hope this will all get thrown out and things back to normal. Right now the government is testing the waters to see what the public reaction and outcry is and what ripples that big flurry of rocks they just threw into the pond stir up. I think a lot of us are merely pulling back and waiting to see what happens and what crinimal charges manage to hold up in a court of law.

I think once the first ones go through - it is that which will determine how most will decide to go on from there. It is the vagueness and the unsureity that makes people reluctant, none of us really know what is going to hold up and what the end result will be, and it's a bit hard to hang everything you have when you don't even really know what you are facing.

lad,

the question resounds thru the halls but no reply from the OPS.

Sp Ops where did it go and why did you take it without an announcement?

There was a thread about it, and it was linked by the second poster to this thread. All one has to do is seek and they shall find an answer.

The Admin announcements would be a wonderful place to explain such things instead of a tedious search.

I wonder if we might use the Admin announcements for say.... Admin announcements?

I'd still like to know what's doing with the avatars myself...

Thanks for the advice. The avatar issue is currently 'in committee' and once a definitive policy has been created, there will be a formal announcement.

Great! Now we'll just want to do it all the more! And we'll divise ways of being more secretive, and the forbidden fruit will be so much sweeter!

I'm looking forward to it.
