Missokyst -> Karma and other odd twists (4/28/2008 10:11:05 AM)

I some times wonder if there is something out there that tries to prevent me from certain actions.  I was a bit of a risk taker in my youth.  I would hitchhike, give strangers rides, disappear for a few days with nothing more than the survival supplies in my car (towel, toilet paper, a can, and water), sometimes I would end up in dangerous situations.  And in times of great stress I would deliberately seek out danger.
I survived but now and then I think it was more through intervention.  Fate would step in and change my path or stop me in my tracks.  There were at least 3 occasions that if I had gotten to my destination, I wouldn't be here now.
So.. here I am, wanting that place of danger again.  I belong to a few sites like this one, hoping to find someone compatible.  I have waited it out, sorted through.. and found nothing that takes the X from that spot in my heart.  But the X is making inroads into my resistance and it is too soon for that.  I find that my base instinct is to look for danger again.
Recently someone from another site contacted me.  He fits every twisted and dangerous impulse I  have.  He isn't too far, is around my age, he has a background which would override my ability to defend myself.  And that is damned attractive to me right now.
So.. I sent him a reply.
And.. it appeared to be sent, yet it is not in my sent folder.  In fact, my mailbox says I haven't sent anything in months.  I even tried creating another account name and sending him an email that way.  And the freaking thing will not send!!
Do you ever feel that sometimes fate is trying to stop you in your tracks?
What do you do when that happens?
Kyst

Better take the hint.

I'm with Rule on this one, don't turn a blind eye to the signs around you.

The Buddha said, when asked about karma ( remember, Buddhists believe in re-birth , not necessarily reincarnation, over what is known as "kalpas", meaning eons in "time"), that karma was too complicated and difficult for anyone to understand in the context of a single life. Therefore, he counselled people to simply do no harm and to do good and not worry about karma and the way it plays out over eons.

In your case, OP, I don't think you're talking about karma, as such, you seem to be talking about playing with fire, which, of course, is attractive to many people. Keep in mind, however, what playing with fire eventually gets you.

Do it. Do it. Do it.  That fucked up karma makes it even more dangerous.  Kind of like the cherry on top.

There are better ways to manage that drive for adrenaline. Roller coasters, sky diving, marathons, triathlons.
And, I'd take the hint.
