"The intercourse did take place with all its details but verbally only," he said. "The sexual act did not really happen because the physical proximity factor is not there, yet it happened because there is a direct physical impact – the loss of virginity."

in fact, A WHOLE LOT of marriages DEPENDS on her being a virgin, and there are doctors that specialize on testing to make sure that
A: She still has her hymen
and/or
B: Her hymen has not been reconstructed... (which some women have been known to have done)

hahahahahaah this made my day...so I guess the phone had a cock sticking out of it...and she inserted the phone on her vagina so her virginity was lost...how ridicolous does it get. Tunisia's laws should not be abused for this stupidity...islamic moral or not. In fact Tunisia along with Morocco are more open than say, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, etc...

many areas of the rest of the world as well, including "christian" areas and other areas. actually, the first thing i think of when i think of testing for the hymen is edwidge danticat's book breath eyes memory (about growing up in haiti).

the sad part is, virginity isn't just a preoccupation of the religious...it's -everywhere-, including pop culture. plenty of american women are getting their hymens reconstructed and vaginas otherwise screwed with to make themselves seem more virginal for secular reasons. it's very sad in any case, in my opinion.
