I'm trying to find out the name of the back up singer to the song "amanda" sung by Don Williams and Waylon Jennings. I heard he'd died of alcohol poisoning. I know it isn't Keith Whitley. It is a tenor high harmony. Very haunting. I've coasted thru the net and can't find the exact name. Any help with this is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It's a measure of people who don't understand,
The pleasures of life in a hillbilly band.
I got my first guitar when I was fourteen,
Well I finally made forty, still wearing jeans.

Amanda, light of my life.
Fate should have made you a gentleman's wife.
Amanda, light of my life.
Fate should have made you a gentleman's wife.

It is haunting....Well, it's not nearly as haunting as it is unbearable....Unless you have drunk the majority of a bottle of Jack.

I'm gonna say it like a man and make you understand

The only song by the name "Amanda" that I know is by Victor Jara, a Chilean communist singer who was killed days after a 1973 coup...

Perhaps you meant his  'Te recuerdo Amanda'  ?

Well, I'm glad to see some got their jollies off about "amanda" whether it was the one I was seeking or not. The back up singer I'm asking about is a male tenor. NOW< I gotta go look for Boston's "Amanda". Thanks y'all!

there was a backup singer who also had the last name of Williams. Tommy? i don't remember.

Termyn8or -> RE: the song "amanda" (4/29/2008 7:35:37 PM)

It may have been Amanda Marshall, a Canadian artist who was a child prodigy almost.

That's all I can come up with at the moment.

"I don't think I can hide what I'm feeling inside another day, knowing I love you." Crap it's stuck in my head now too.
