I don't think sending a compliment to someone is being Rude.
 
Tell me if I'm wrong,
but if you are trying to let someone know
that they have a great page and profile,
their shouldn't be any question
as to whether or not it is Rude.
 
It is a Compliment! Hello??
 
Anybody else have any thoughts?

i agree with you, but have been surprised and summarily dismissed for this with either no or a terse response.  to that i say "to each their own"  translate it into russian and then back, where it comes out to say, "everybody masturbates in their own way".  i smile, snicker and move on.

Misty, I suppose it depends on how you worded it, whether the other person had had their coffee that morning, and what the email before yours had said. So many variables go into our reactions (being mere humans, y'know).

I have sent people compliments on their profiles and on their forum posts. Fortunately, they have all been accepted in the spirit in which they were written.

My advice is just to shrug and ignore. Their reaction to something you thought was polite does you no harm, and it gives you more insight into their personality.

There are tons of strange people everywhere[sm=alien.gif]LOL. To the op I don't see anything wrong with people posting compliments. Just as long as they don't cross any lines, but if they cross any lines, I get very annoyed and those people go on the block list[:@]

Ok I should add that I do get compliments, mostly on honesty in my profile and the latest entry in my journal.

And I always say thanks, sometimes to no reply sometimes leading to a nice conversation, so compliments are good.

I always reply, even if it's just 'thx'.

And I'll send compliments when I think theyre warranted. Usually something like "I enjoyed your profile/post/journal entry.  Occasionally I'll compliment a physical attribute (nice hair!), but I make a point of also commenting on something written in the profile. As someone else pointed out, the rude responses (thankfully rare) let me see something of the person on the other end. The no-responses I assume mean that either my mail has gone into the bulk folder, the person gets so many emails that they havent gotten to mine, or theyre just rude..LOL
