Thanks for the feedback

Given the state of some of the businesses and the hygiene etc it stikes me that they would not set up somene crying, it saeems real enough to me. Also the contecxt seems to be in relief at their problems being sorted or in some form of emotional gratitude.

The comment about the marines is valid and reminded me about another documentary series currently runnng in the UK following a group of squadies in Afghanistan. Moist eyes appear upon the death of a comrade but it is again a show that exihibits the difference in visual  behaviour between US and UK males. (Ross Kemp in Afghanistan)

I think in British society *even today* men still find certain emotions hard & therefore the 'its the British stiff upper lip' thing comes to mind.

Englishmen don't cry.

You could hack indiscriminately at an Englishman's knackers with a scythe and the response will deviate between......"that was nice, dear, would you like a cup of tea and a biscuit?" and "this sort of behaviour disappoints me no end".

Tony Blair cried on his last day in Parliament when he received a standing ovation....if that helps any........

We are a bit different, I suppose. From what I can gather, psychiatry is big in the US...some of them have two in the event one has a day off.......over here, when we're pissed off we tend to go to the pub and have a beer with our mates......

Generally speaking it is perfectly acceptable for a grown man to cry under certain conditions -

#1 chopping fresh onions
#2 watching his favorite team loose an important game
#3 being kicked in the testicles

I absolutely detest faux news reporters and paparazzi that shove a camera into the face of a person who has just suffered some terrible tragedy.  Such behavior shows a total lack of respect for the privacy of others and decent civilized behavior.
