5am, loud banging on the door, oh im gonna kill someone!
opens door, my eldest is standing the weeping and throws herself
into my arms, while her b/f stands behind holding some weird looking
white thing and crying.
it was my other kid Peacepipe. some fucker ran him down and didnt
even bother to move his body out of the road. if the b/fs mom hadnt been
on her way to work, my 10yr old would have found him on his way to school.
everything here is cement, i dont have anywhere to bury him. all the cats in the complex
are outside acting very strange right now. especially the roommate of peacepipes kids.
omg im so sad.

oh Domah!!!!!!!!!!!  *hugs to you and the UMs* I'm so sorry!

Call the vet, there should be a pet crematory somewhere.  I think it costs about $125 (well it does in ATL).

And here is The Poem (maybe print this out and put it somewhere prominent..I know it has helped me with each furbaby that has moved on)

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, domahpet. I've been there and have some idea of how you must feel.

In the past, I've taken my pets' remains to the local animal shelter. They do cremations for minimal fee or even free in some cases. When I lived in the Keys, burial there was not an option. The soil there is a thin layer and not suited for burial. The rangers on Big Pine Key  had a place, deep in the woods, where they would leave wildlife remains for the turkey buzzards to recycle. It may sound harsh, but imo, it's just nature's way of recycling. I've left a few pets' remains there too.

Best wishes to you and yours.

Btw..."Peacepipe", what a cool name !

Oh Domah, I am sorry for you! But you really can give yourself permission to cry. Losing a furbaby can be just as tramatic as losing a human family member.

I have had pets my whole life. Which means I have seen many come and go. Yet losing one very special dog several years ago turned me into an absolute blubbering mess for several days. I felt like I had lost a part of myself.

Sorry to hear your loss Domah. I'm reminded of when the best little kitty in my world died (though dont tell the ones I have now!). We rescued Mindy from the shelter when her owners (former neighbours) gave her up and since she'd spent her first year making herself comfy at our place, (because she was a little character), she soon settled down when she moved in properly.

It was July 14th when I went to go to work and saw her sleeping on the kerb in the sunshine. I went to move her from such a dangerous place, but she wasnt sleeping, she was dead. Not a mark on her. We buried her in the back garden, where she had played for her two years in this world.

I was fine about it, very businesslike, playing the man to a tee. Until a week later I opened a can of tuna for lunch and broke down in tears because Mindy wasnt there to share it with me. As Holly said, we cry because we love.

I'm so very sorry. As others have said don't worry about crying you need to grieve.

So sorry to hear that. My condolances.
My "Bubba" was gone for 6 days once and I was depressed.
Looked everywhere!
It's amazing how attached we become to our animals.
