I did not think this was as big as "they" claim.

I dunno, around here in Nashville, that comment has caused a HUGE buzz.
Then again, telling a bunch of southern Christians that they are holding onto their religion becasue they are bitter never does sit well.

Obama has the one benefit of seeming fresh and clean as compared to the politically shit-stained McCain and Clinton.

None of the three will adequately represent the interests of middle-america, but then even middle-class americans vote against their own best interests.

Fact.

If we had any sense we'd still be looking at a John Edwards candidacy. He had everything right except his politics were supposedly too far to the left. And of course people had to whine about his being a lawyer and how all lawyers suck ass. It's strange that people should disqualify a man for being able to read and understand the legislation put in front of him or that he himself might propose. Fuck, they're all lawyers usually.

This country is insane and has its head so firmly planted up its own ass I doubt it will recover during the remainder of my lifetime.

Im not sure why it has caused uproar.

It wasnt a slam on religion or guns.... I did not view it as a slam.  It was a slam on the outsource mentality- thats my opinion on it.

I didn't see it as being anything myself.  Although I've also been watching all 3 talk for a while now.  They have a tendancy to offend people on a daily basis.

Shawn1066 -> RE: bitter" not ? (4/14/2008 7:19:36 AM)

I personally saw it as a total slam, and I'm not a gun-owning over-religious type.  Granted, I know hundreds of people who are, coming from a small town in Tennessee.  I can, for one, tell you that they're not bitter at all and they pretty much stay the same regardless of how things are going.  Even if he didn't mean it like it came out, it came off as a huge slur.  It's like he's preaching tolerance one second and intolerance the next, most people seem to say.

I wonder if the term "bitter" has different meanings in different regions?

PaHunk, it has caused an uproar because Obama has basically called most of the people of this country "Rubes."

I live in PA and Harrisburg anyway, still seems very pro-Obama.

And no offense here kids but whenever the shit hits the fan in this country, not just PA, people reach for their guns & their bibles. So was it a gaff or just reality hitting too close for comfort?

I was for Obama until a week ago.  Hillary can take a punch, she could excel.   Obama  really should be around abit to know if we really want him in charge for 4 years.  He is a new-comer.  Tho- Obama is better the McCain.
