Well Wonder no more!

http://www.linktv.org/mosaic

Yes it is a bit picked over and watered down. The "All Jews and Americans will must die" has been filtered out... the scads of scenes with dead bodies have been filtered out as well.

They also assume that thier viewers are going to be educated enough on the Middle East to know when you see a News cast from sources like Lebanon's Al-Manar you are going to realize it will be slanted since it is controlled by the Shiite fundamentalist Hezbollah. ( hmm slanted just maybe ya think? )

But I thought some of you might be interested in this website.

I only watched about half of the video and my conclusion is that they were all basically projecting the official  government position on the particular news item.

Most of them are Govt funded and run.. there are very few independant news orgs. Outsiders can look at BBC or US news programs and see the Govt's influance.. so goes it for the Middle East. However I think it is good to know what thier govts have on thier minds.

memri.org is a pretty good source of translations of arab media. It does concentrate on the more outrageous statements though so take it with a grain of salt.

Hi Gwyn

Maybe I am reading your post wrong. I don't know about the BBC but I think US media, outside of the Rush L types, are not influenced by the government in any way. All they care about is ratings.

I certainly don't think the Bush or Clinton administrations would think they have any influence with the US media.

Of course any free media is still a product of its culture and will reflect that cultures collective way of thinking... not sure that says anything good about our culture.

i had seen this before.  it illistrates how myopic the US is.

maybe it is me being wiser....it seems FOX techniques, and Glen Beck, are salesmen for the hard right.  I find free speech tv to be good- tho I reduced my channels to save money.
