hello.

My best friend is going thru the disability application process. I help him somewhat- but it is evolving into the presumption that if I care about him, I will be disabled "with" him.

Anyhow- Im looking for ways to deal with the quagmire.

? if a friend is pulling you down - how- to undo it..to not live the terrible terrible journey. or how to take a break from it.

Stand up for yourself and make it clear to your friend that although you are happy to help, you still have a life of your own.

I think it is awesome that you are helping him so much. It speaks of your character.

In the simplest terms...no one can pull you anywhere you do not want to go. Do not confuse empathy with sympathy.

I don;t help people to indulge in pity parties either. It's cost me some aquaintances-but the loss really was not.
