faerytattoodgirl -> okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 4:51:53 PM)

so i seen my endocrinologist today..and i tell him about my nightsweats....and he's like...well i honestly dont have any explanation as to why your having these..

so then he goes....well i think we should get you in for an xray and ultra sound...i want to rule out the possibility of cancer...

CANCER???? WTF????? he cant be serious... and where would this cancer be?

my breasts, liver, kidney, gull, prostate..etc...everythings fine...so where can it be???i think he is dillusional!

sirsholly -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 4:54:50 PM)

calm down, Faery. It is a typical response to night sweats when there is no other reason they can find. If you feel healthy otherwise it is probably just the doctors erring on the side of caution.

loverly -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 4:55:07 PM)

if you are even close to your 40's night sweats usual;ly mean your on the" verge" of menopause... at least it has been for me and all my friends... and being on the "verge" can last for years... tho the sweats come and go .... its one explination.... a better one than cancer anyway! try drinking the chocolate ( it tastes better ) soy milk.. it really does help them go away ..

Rule -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 4:57:42 PM)

Night sweats may be caused by an infection, like a herpes virus for example.

I like the explanation given by loverly.

Another possibility is perhaps as a consequence of medication?

christine1 -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 4:59:48 PM)

edited because sometimes i joke when i shouldn't....smoochies feary.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 5:00:08 PM)

well my energy level has depleted over the past 10 yrs...but this is cause of my heart condition.  yet my cardiologist....does fuck all about it.  his test results and charts show the same thing every year...the gist of it is i have a 23 yr old artificial pig valve in pulmonary... and its supposed to only last 10 yrs!

so there are other health issues...but nothing that would relate to my sweats... ive had it 5 times in the last 6 months...and never in my life previously...aside from an incident where i had ear infection.

atleast he is actually doing something about it where my cardiologist is just twiddling his damn thumbs..im just praying that my endo doesnt say something ridiculous and need surgery...surgery right now of any kind is life threatening.

i dont have sex (not possible) and no fluid transfers of any kind....so no diseases.  blood tests are done every 6 months anyway...cause i go to hospitals...so i have to check.

i take hormones yes (hence the blood tests...but also get him to add in things)..dosage not nearly high enough to cause this.  if that were the case i'd have had these long long ago.   i dont take any other medication...nothing for my heart condition either (which is stupid).

christine1 -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 5:04:35 PM)

faery, did he mention menopause at all, or early onset?  sounds like the most reasonable thing to me...

The pig cells in the valve may have been replaced by your own cells. (I am speculating.)

Approximately monthly? May be hormonal like loverly suggested, then.

I agree that medication as cause is unlikely.

im intersexed..i dont cycle like normal women its off the wall actually.
only the first 3 months were 30 days apart.  the next was a 60 day which was like a week ago.

my endo specializes in hormones(thats what an endo is!) ...so he would know this..and says its not that.

oh and i dont know the details of my pig valve...but i know it leaks and has been since the start.  thats why i see my cardio every year to make sure it doesnt leak too much.  i see him in may/june.  im going to request a new cardio if he gives me the same jibberish.

seeksfemslave -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 5:10:00 PM)

I would be inclined to think more of psychological problems.
Life crisis, relationship probs, things like that.
Lack of sex wont help if you mean total lack.

If its a physical problem why should it only occur at night ?
I assume nightsweats actually occur....at night.

Seems like a hormonal cycle then to me, with one period skipped.

Indeed, he ought to know.

Idiopathic hyperhidrosis Idiopathic hyperhidrosis is a condition in which the body chronically produces too much sweat without any identifiable medical cause.

popeye1250 -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 5:31:37 PM)

When I was a drinker I used to get night sweats but that was the booze pouring out of my system.
Do you drink a lot?

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 5:32:42 PM)

cept it doesnt explain about freezing when you wake up (which i do for quite some time afterwards and still sweating).  it only explains about sweating.  i also use a duvet.  which can cause it according to its explanation.  but i dont sleep with clothes on and its the only sheet i use.

"
unusually hot or you are using too many bedclothes, you may begin to sweat during sleep--and this is normal."

never touch booze, no cigs, no drugs.  i am pure.  heart condition requires i stay that way
.

Rule -> RE: okay...wtf... (4/7/2008 5:38:51 PM)

Best bet it is hormonal.
Second best bet it is in response to an infection.
Third: may be a combination: hormonal cycle enables an infection to periodically become activated; however, then we would expect the immune response not to occur and therefore no night sweats either.

the key words are "without any identifiable cause". Your endo ruled out any hormonal causes and you said you had regular bloodwork that would rule out an elevated white count (infection) so now they have to rule out the rest.
Easy to say...but try not to get too upset.
