Keeping the drama from me was never a thought. He was at my store before he was even home, to make sure I knew he was OK since he was suposed to have called me nearly 2 hours earlier but his phone was left with the car when it was towed. An oversight in the heat of the moment.
After a bath and some dinner, Fox seems to be just fine. I will make sure he goes to the doctor on campus on Monday if anything needs checked, assuming his father doesnt have him checked out wile he is home this weeked. A little TLC, some aspirin before bed and he should be right as rain.
Lucky for him, he has access to my cell and all to make sure his Dad can come get him, and get things handled. If need be I will pick him up from campus for the weekend for his visit. Hw might be carfree for a bit, though which means no work.

...this would fall under underinsured or un-insured.

never, ever admit fault in a car accident.  does TN mandate insurance??

DiurnalVampire -> RE: My First Car Wreck (4/5/2008 5:00:59 PM)

Yes, but we are guessing this guy bolted becasue he was driving without it.
Fox and his father went to check the car, and its totaled. It would cost more to fix it than the car is worth. They are going to just wind up getting something new, and for the time being he is going to take his Fathers car so he has transportation untilthe summer when he can work full time and get a new car.
Physically he is good to go, as well. The cell phone is still MIA, presumed lost at the crash site, knocked out of the car or something.

WOW!

So sorry to hear about Fox & his car, but glad that Fox is fine (as far as we can tell).

Sucks about the other driver though, grrrrr....   [>:]

Uninsured property damage only comes into play if the other party can be identified as not having insurance.  Running away is not proof that they do not have insurance.

Injury wise, if uninsured/underinsured bodily injury coverage is purchased, you do not have to prove the other person had no insurance, you just have to have a police report and then you have a claim for your pain and suffering.

The VIN# can be traced by the police and the police can investigate if the car was stolen from the owner or if they were just driving without insurance and fled.

Coverage wise of course, each state is different.  Some states do not offer uninsured property damage and other states offer it and unless you sign that you do not want the coverage, you have it even if they were not charging you for it because you did not sign off on rejecting it.

shawn > i am glad your for the most part ok , minus the  ordeal and all . Most effects of a crash are felt a doy or two later  so keep a watch on those and make sure you follow up health wise if your feeling  those ill effects in the comming days .
I really hope they can track down the moron who hit and ran  through the dmv , they should be able to  through the Vin # of the vehicle .If not the cars owner should be  responcable "all my time of watching judge judy  finally pays off " If you had full coverage  on your vehicle  your own insurance co  could also help not only by repairing your car but finding this low life .
On dec 3rd i had a teen driver who was speeding well over the 25 mph speed limit , and ran a stop sign smashing into me , many aspects are still unresolved to this day and health and compensation are some of them.. It also took more than 4 months to repair my  ride .Having to drive a rental mini van was HELL and i should  be paid millions  for that humiliation alone .The uninsured and people who do not hold the privlage to drive then crash into you  irks me big time .Even worse is the cowardly act after the crash when he fled .Maybe when cought you can use him as a pinata hang him from a tree and wack him to see if money and candy come out .
I hope this gets resolved fast for you .
