Actually "W" himself has been pretty proactive about AIDS in Africa, which is about the only thing redeeming he's done, it seems to me.
...

May I suggest you look into that rumor?  Sure, the media goes on and on about his War on AIDS...but are you aware he patently refuses his centers offer or even discuss the use of condoms?  Yup...in a place where children are dying in poverty, he still believes preventing pregnancy is against god...even if the reason for using a condom is for prevention of the very disease he's fighting!

The money he sends is lauded to go toward prevention; but his idea of prevention is NOT condoms...but abstinence!  Sheeshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Google it...but here's a couple to get you started:

Rock music isn't rebellious anymore - which is why they play it at Reps rallies. Sorry, cjan, but Nickelback are laundry detergent stuff. As are Green Day and other assorted radio FM staples.

When they play hardcore dance choons and raps rants at political rallies, I'll start believing change is on its way [image]http://www.collarchat.com/image/s3.gif[/image] .

kitt, et al, tastes and opinions whether they are about music, art, politics, etc., are simply that. That's why they make 57 flavors ( at least).. Thank goodness we don't all share the same tastes and views. That would make for a pretty dull world, don'tcha think ?

kittinSol -> RE: Rockers for Republicans? (4/3/2008 8:28:22 AM)

I agree, cjan, although if everybody listened to good music, what a wonderful world it would be [8D] .

I'm metal as fuck and a staunch Republican.

farglebargle -> RE: Rockers for Republicans? (4/3/2008 3:20:14 PM)

There's metal, and there's Metal.

There's Republicans, and there are Country Club Republicans.

Remember -- YOU are not a Country Club Republican, and they don't represent your interest...

Not a joke, a generalization. Flawed as generalizations can be there is a nugget of truth, even if it doesn't apply to you. No offense intended.

If you are male and a Led Zeppelin fan, chances are you may be leaning toward voting Republican in the U.S. presidential election, according to a survey of rock radio fans released on Wednesday.

The Jacobs Media's Media/Technology Web Poll IV of more than 27,000 respondents cited stronger than expected interest in the November 2008 election among fans of rock, classic rock, and alternative radio stations.

It also found that John McCain, the Republican candidate for U.S. president, was the top pick for the Oval Office for men and classic rock partisans -- those people who tune in to stations playing music from the "original classic rock era" of 1964 to 1975, comprised of bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who and Pink Floyd.

This will really confuse Pat Robertson, eh?  i mean isn't Zeppelin the devil's music?  It's sorta like when a guy is really dirty and wants a slut on the side,  and wants me to "help me explore my dominant side" unbeknownst to wifey ...but he's a Republican because he's into "traditional family values" and "saving America"....that makes my head hurt.

Hypocrites do suck. [>:]

Now, there are certainly plenty of conservatives that love rock. Mike Huckabee, feel about him how you wish, has great taste in music. Loves classic rock. So does John Kasich (two that I can think of right off). But I would be surprised if there are more righty rockers than lefty ones.
