Hi I'm Rob and I'm new to this. I've had a deep desire to try this life style for quite some time. I'm ready to act on that and do some experimentation. I'd welcome any suggestions from members as to how to start and some of the terminology used. Example, what does switch mean? Does it mean you can change from Dom to Sub and vice versa? How does one get started etc. Any suggestions / invites please let me know. Thanks,

One gets started by meeting people, going to munches, and attending classes so you can learn the skills that you need. Classes offer some great experience for those who are new too all this. Experimenting when you have no idea about what you are doing is not a really good idea. That's how people get hurt.

Switches are those who can top or bottom. They usually have a perference for one way or the other. Some will top one person but bottom to another, although there are some that switch with one partner. Since you have listed yourself as a switch without being sure of the meaning, i'd suggest using the search feature on the forum pages to find other threads that talk about switching.
