NEW YORK - Like a bill being rapidly pushed through legislation, Oliver Stone’s film about President George W. Bush is expected to begin shooting within a month with a goal toward being released before the president leaves office next January.

A person close to the film, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because plans were still being formalized, said Stone’s “W.” will begin filming in late April in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Academy Award-winning director only began shopping his script for financing in January, but has quickly captured the interest of investors and Hollywood.

Stone has said that the film, which will focus on the life and presidency of Bush, won’t be an anti-Bush polemic, but, as he told Daily Variety, “a fair, true portrait of the man. How did Bush go from being an alcoholic bum to the most powerful figure in the world?”

I wonder if the film will be even-handed?

That depends on whether or not they keep the working title; Bonzo Goes to Baghdad.

Saying Oliver Stone will be even handed is like saying Rush Limbaugh will too...What always surprises me is how many people will find the REAL truth ...in bullshit.

Natural Born Killers was an awful lot of fun.  Taken for what it is, JFK is a mighty entertaining bit of storytelling.  I'll probably wind up catching this on DVD.  Think we'll get a quick glimpse of Laura's bits?

'Shouldn't need a film to answer that - connections, easily controlled and seemingly unable to string a sentence together. Result = a ready-made stooge.

If there's money in it, I think I'll make a film about him..........

I have yet to read about an Oliver Stone film which interests me at all. He's a kneejerk liberal and I find his obsessions completely boring.

Oh, I don't know... I think it's great that he's trying to bring back Three Stooges type slapstick comedy...

This could be the best story about an idiot rising to power, since Peter Sellers in "Being There."
