Thanks KatieLied... this sounds so awful to go through and I'm sorry you all have had to deal with it.  I am very interested in this.  I've had to do a lot of medical research and there is something here... that just makes my mind try to connect something that isn't fitting yet.  Your info helps!  Last night I saw a show where a woman had really bad migraines... they found the cause as a heart problem!  It is weird what is connected.  So... I am off to google some more and try to figure something out.  Thank you!

linky short article

confirms my case:
This condition is usually a familial one and can be traced back through the father's side of the family.

I had preclampsia when I was pregnant, in fact the itching on my abdomen was so bad I'd take a hair brush and scratch my skin until it bled [:o] My doctor at that time (17 years ago) recommended cocoa butter, it seemed to help some. He also recommended not taking such hot showers and to put the cocoa butter on right after getting out of the shower.

Good luck and I hope everything goes well with this pregnancy for you.[:)]

We are expecting and are 6 weeks along. Gotta tell you i am scared to death here. I had a very bad pregnancy with our little one. I was pre-eclamptic from the 5th month and had an emergency c-section when i turned to full eclampsia. But, i have an awesome group of doctors who will do everything they can to get us all through this.

Here is my question: I had severe itching with my first pregnancy. Actually, itching does not do it justice. I felt like i was getting stabbed with a thousand needles, everywhere, all the time. I tried everything i could think of to stop it, humid air, changing all chemicals (laundry deterg, bath soap..etc). The doctors tried rx anti itch creams, as well as the strongest antihistamine i could safely take. Nothing helped. It nearly drove me to the brink of insanity. I was told the itching is not common with pre-eclampsia but it does occur and no one knows why.

I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if so, are able to offer any advice?

Edited to add....Damn...i wanted to post this under the Health forum.

*sends a hug your way*
