ORIGINAL: popeye1250 I've been thinking about my planned trip to Sweden and Ireland this year but the dollar to euro thing is just getting out of hand. And I'm not alone, I know three other parties who are thinking about cancelling out too! I'm just not going to pay 50% more for everything. So, I was looking around the internet and came upon Buenos Aires, Argentina. "The Paris of South America" according to the tour guides. And a place I've always wanted to go to anyway. Of course their weather and seasons are opposite to ours. July is winter there. But, the prices for hotels, meals, taxis, and just about everything else there are a bargain compared to Europe! Long flight though and expensive! Nine and a half hours from Miami/Atlanta and about $1,500 as opposed to R/T $680 Boston to Dublin, 6 hours. Has anyone in here been to Buenos Aires? Popeye...you ain't 23 anymore. You spend an enormous amount of typing time letting everyone know how much cash you have, and how good you are at saving. See above...you ain't 23 anymore. Quit wasting everyone's time extolling how much you have....and quit wasting your own complaining about how much things cost..... Go...see the world. (Of course...until that $14,000.00 is gone hahahahahaha). Gris, I've mentioned a savings account I started about 6 years ago by not buying cheap plastic junk from China ala Walmart in a few threads. That was to make a point about "not buying" all that junk and doing business with places like Walmart and not supporting this whole "global economy" thing that is not good for the average American. And yes, I'm not 23 anymore I realise that. I've travelled all my life and love it. When I was 11 years old I took a train r/t from Boston to San Fran all by myself. I've been to Ireland 3 times already (I have dual U.S./Irish Citizenship) and other parts of Europe 3 times as well. Including the Navy and Coast Guard I've been to 40-50 different countries and a lot of them were shit holes. Makes one appreciate what we have here.
