This is Darcy As anyone who knows *the.dark.* and I knows, I do not moan much, but today I'm going to make a rare exception! [:D] We had a wonderful day planned today, I was to drive across to see *the.dark.* to take her out for dinner, and to give her her presents and card for her birthday tomorrow, as we can't be together on the actual day. However, I woke up this morning and bam - snow everywhere, so being the sensible bunnies that we are (well, most of the time [;)]) we decided to play it safe and so we're apart and it sucks! Ironically there's not a trace of the stuff now, so perhaps I could have made the journey there and back today safely, but there you go. So, happy birthday my girl, and a happy Easter to the rest of you. [:D]

Awww, that sucks that you didn't get to see her! Happy Birthday, dark. I love snow though... we still have some on the ground here and enough that we were able to take the kids to the ski hill on Friday. My best to you both. Knight's Kyra

I just wanted to say, I love snow, but today - it really sucked! I am just happy that everyone is safe! Thank you to everyone who has posted birthday love and those who have written via the other side - you all rock bigly. the.dark.

Yeah, happy birthday to Dark and happy Easter to you both. I wish y'all were having better luck with the weather. It was nice here today. Spring had fnally arrived; I was so sick of the cold.

53yo Aussie here.... I've seen this stuff called 'snow' on television! It does look cold and capable of creating traffic chaos - my sympathies.... The only down side to our Winter being too warm to ever snow is that 40+deg (Celsius) Summer days aren't much fun, either. However, they don't keep anyone apart on important days, so this is an Aussie brag post...! <wink> Now you get to be creative and make it up to her - that's an opportunity in itself...! [:)] Focus.

I am sorry ..... I know there snow is not as common as here . we are so used to it that it is just a normal part of life that we have to deal with and unless we are hit with a large dumping of several inches our lives carry on as normal, with means travelling to work, school, going shopping etc. we could not afford not to with the number of snowfalls we get each winter, even with the major storms we have had most industries continued to operate.. expecting workers to make it in to work as usual, though as the worker you have to than try to calculate how long the drive will take based on the road conditions and leave for work that much earlier inorder to show up on time. you may enjoy this video from a local news station they interviewed a woman who had moved here from the UK at the beginning of the segment http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_20417.aspx and this taken 5 days after a 3 day storm hit, of some the city road conditions http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_19576.aspx I had a Dom fly in to see me in early Feb from the mid southern US and then rented a car to get over to my neck of the woods, it had snowed but for us would be considered a light snowfall, even though he had lived a few years out west where snow was common it was several years ago, and he was simply no longer used to driving in it, so negotiating a major highway where everyone, including the large transports are still driving like it is a sunny day in July was absolutely terrifying for him he wanted so much to see me this weekend but the thought of driving again through snow kept him home, he would much rather wait until he's 100% sure it will not snow, so is picking the first 2 weeks of July to travel here again. If it helps to know you are not the only Dom right now sitting home alone because of the weather. Though I agree with Focus it will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to make it up to her

Sorry to hear your plans for the day were ruined Darcy, I know the dark was very much looking forward to your visit, and the day before her Birthday too. But perhaps a wise move with snow on the ground and the notoriety of our roads and the loonies that go out to play when there is something different underfoot, not to mention the often untreated roads, where the road authorities have yet again been caught with their pants down. The main thing is, you are both safe, safe to meet again. Here on the sunny southwest coast, no snow, fine all day, sun interspersed with cloud but nothing from the sky, even the moors appeared snow free. And you dearest .d., here's wishing you a very Happy Birthday regardless. A. (sorry forgot to post, but will post tuesday)
