As I read your post my first though was about stomach acid  and it being much like having an ulcer and the pain/discomfort  that could be

having had my tubes tied laparoscopically and appendix and tumour removed surgerically I can say that laparoscopic surgery is really not that bad, I had mine done on a Friday with 2 abdominal incisions and was back to work on the Monday though with some restrictions  but within a week I no longer need restrictions and I am an auto worker so my job is physical and really was not  that bad and it too only takes a few days to recover from and a whole lot easier to recover from than the old form of surgery where they make  large incision across your lower abdomen in which recovery takes 8 to 12 weeks  and if I  needed   to have a gall bladder removed today  I would not even consider having it done orally I would want to have it done laparoscopically, if there is any problem with the incision at least it is visible so would know well before it became a major problem..       Where I can see a great advantage in doing orally  is for people who are well overweight  as usually they are not good candidates for laparoscopic surgeries.  .

There are things that can and should be coming through my mouth...omg... I don't think of that as one of them! Yikes!  Anyplace but there! lol

Laproscopic is cool!   I am glad we made progess in surgeries.   Even the heart surgery has gotten better.
