Who has heard of this ? I did years ago and did it. Although my issues were minor, something I realize now, it works.

There is talk of SSRIs and SNRIs all over the place, and it seems the more sane want to just use them as a crutch, and I mean for a short period of time, just to get through certain stages of counselling or something like that. Well IMO that is fine if there is no alternative, as long as the idea is not to be dependant on the drug for the rest of the sufferer's life.

Hypmotism has been mention in some of these threads, but if it works it is temporary. Smoking cessation hypnotherapy proved that.

The mind controls alot more than most think. How come ulcer sufferers should not get upset ? Just a basic example. What's more why is it that sometimes we can drink a bottle of whiskey and drive home just fine, I mean with witnesses passing the cops at the speed limit, all that, but on another day three beers and we are three sheets to the wind ?

Interactions with body chaemistry are important, and if you can get a stopgap solution that lets you think past something, you should not need it forever. This is similar to hyptnotism but not quite, it only works becasuse you want ti to work. And it only works for as long as you want it to work. There are no drugs, no special lights no nothing os the sort. It starts with a pen and a piece of paper.

Step one is basically thinking back to the worst itme in your life, when you were the most scared or being abused. Your basic thought about it, you write down. Do it witrh your own hqand, don't type it and print it. You keep that by the bed and you read it every night.

This is the hard part, well maybe, you allow yourself the nightmare of reliving it. You keep reading it every night and eventually you will dream it. Well I guess that would be a nightmare, but a nightmare is nothing but a bad dream.

This is not easy, to embrace it, to experience again the feelings you once felt. You must be able to dream the whole experience. You can write more things on the paper, but they stay. That is why you use a pen.

Once you can dream the whole thing you write, in your own hand a little story.

Then you invade your dream. You are younger in your dream. Realize that you must accept this, it will only work if you want it to work.

So a story about what you would you would do had you been your adult self in that room at that time. Do you walk in there with a 1967 Chevy camshaft and brain the assailant sending him to the hospital, or do you just comfort your younger self ? It is your choice.

And don't even start until you are ready, you might wreck it for yourself. I need to go because it is late, very late here. Don't even start this yet. If interested say so, and I will get on to the details. You need the details. but with no chemicals and no electrodes, for those for whom it would work, it can be a good option.

I believe that chemical imbalance in the brain can affect one's thoughts. You might find some clinical evidence if you look real hard (jk). I also believe that one's thoughts can affect the chemical balance in the the brain. What, do you think adrenaline affects your feet directly ? Or your fists ? No, it affects the brain. It's secretion was caused by the brain and now affets the brain.

I think it very possible that when someone is thinking negatively, it affects the different hormone levels, as well as chemical balances in the brain. With that chemical balance changed, it affects further thoughts, or at least a tendency toward the negative or positive.

I will post more details when time permits. Just don't start until you have the details. This is a dream sequence. And as violent as my life has been, I did not do violence in my sequence. And I am not saying that it is based on fairly sound physiological and psychological ground, what I am saying is that it worked for me.

I'll be baack.

Sounds to me like this is similar or the same as a lucid dream. You can even buy a mask to help you learn to do this. It has a light that flashes briefly when you enter REM. This is supposed to make you aware that you are dreaming.

Lucid dreaming is also a common tool and byproduct of hypnosis.

Yep, Lucid Dreaming is what I thought of as well.  There's an interesting little movie on the subject, called "Waking Life."  It's a pretty heavy & philosophical movie, but definitely interesting.  I have had some personal experience with lucid dreams, but not a lot.

I'll have to see if I can find that movie, it sounds interesting.

I guess what I am talking about could be termed lucid rather than directed,  but wouldn't lucid mean something slightly different ? That you would be partially awake ?

Maybe I don't know. Maybe when you force yourself to have a certain dream that is lucidity in a way, even if you are in REM sleep.

I think the movie can be found on Amazon.

You are fully asleep in lucid dreams, but while in your sleep and dreaming you can direct the direction of the dreams and what takes place in it.

I've done alot of dream work in the past. Not so much lately but I am sure I will at some point in the future.
