I just read the profile of a dom who states that he's not interested in subbies who hear voices.

Pffft! My voices have been with me for years. They stuck by me when noone else would, showing far more loyalty than most. Besides they offer me great advice - although perhaps not the recent financial advice which lost me thousands of dollars.

So to those who say the same thing as that dominant, i reply - accept me, accept my voices, they aren't going anywhere!

Actually HM HAD a submissive once who actually *did* hear voices. He said it really wasn't funny.
Loved your post though!

The problem with my inner voices is that they are crazier than I am.

Of course it's not funny and i'm not making fun of the people who truly DO suffer from mental illness, i was poking fun at myself more than anything.

*wonders whether subbies who hear voices qualify as more than one sub*

Not necessarily, but I do not wish to get into a drawn out debate about this, but those who are spiritual often profess to hearing voices. They believe it is a product of their faith.

But we all must have that little devil character on one shoulder and angel on the other telling us how to respond to a situation, but it is only you that can decide the correct route.

...in so far as profiles.  many are silly.  nothing new there.  as to voices- a hunch is not the same thing as the auditory sensation that one "hears".  but then maybe i am wrong

It really depends on what the voices tell you to do, they say it is a defect with the part of the brain that helps you formulate ideas into speech. So whatever the voices say they are coming from your own thoughts and ideas anyway most likely.

The las time anyone asked me if I hear voices was in jail. I drove drunk, I admit it. Woke up in jail and the gaurd came around and I said "Could I get a cup of coffee and a .45 ?".

So I wind up in a room with this guy aling me questions, "Do you hear voices ?". I said "All the time". He asked "What do they say ?", I replied "Well the last one asked if I hear voices and what they say".

I can't really say if this is a hijack or not, but I didn't do it. Hearing voices in your mind is not, in and of itself, abnormal. First of all there are enough illiterate and semiliterate people around who have no choice but to think in the lingual sense, for example moving their lips when they read. And don't count these people as stupid, this is a cognitive issue, not of intelligence. I could tell you stories, for one, I know a Man who did not learn to read until he was in his forties, but he was already making fifty grand a year, and this was twenty years ago. It has been said that sometimes people who can't read have to be smarter to cover up the fact.

Anyway, I am kinda following the trend here because I don't get what the point of the thread is. I am not saying that it is pointless, not at all, but the title does not seem to match the content of the OP.

But it appears we are now on hearing voices. I remember the voices of dead loved ones, and sometimes in that semi-sleep state or if I get off to daydreaming, I can hear them again. But that is memory. However as an avid audiophile I can tell you that when you were really there and heard it in person, and perhaps in a dream or just in a state of resting the mind, when your mind plays it back, no speaker could ever come close to the fidelity.

I can identify two problems with this, one would be the person can't distinguish between fantasy and reality, and another is that they could think these voices are some divine guidance.

For anyone with those problems I got two statements.

One, if the voices are of people you never met, it's like anyone else you never met, don't trust them, especially if they tell you to kill someone. Even if it is the voice of someone you actually met, and they really did tell you to kill someone, don't do it unless you want to. Fuck them, they want them dead let them go kill them.

Two, USUALLY when you hear voices, it is accompanied by other circumstance, such as holding a telephone, listening to a radio or watching someone's lips move. Something like that. Of course with people living in apartments and converted houses there are exceptions.

I do indeed have a perceptual diffculty, I can't read or write. Of course I typed this, but I could never write it out. If I tried it would likely be illegible. What's more is I can't read cursive writing. This is literally something I forgot.

But that is it basically, I have no problem with reality vs. fantasy.

Tellya this though, if I started talking to a shrink, not only would he stop charging me, I bet I could get him to start paying me :-)

Going through the steps in my own mind about taking over the world. I thought it out, and as far as I am concerned this was nothing but training for a strategist. Just a mental exercise.

Knowing the difference between fantasy and reality is the key. For example if you ever saw the movie "The Girl, The Gold Watch And Everything" it may have stuck in your mind. I liked it. Guy inherits this gold watch while his brothers and whover get millions. Finds out the watch has a button on it that stops time. I thought it a good concept, worthy of a series. Once they figured out how it worked they played around a bit and realized just what it was, but then they had also inherited enemies.

I went through a million promulgations in my mind about what I would do. First of all the enemies would be dead real quick. Then how to take over the world. How would that be accomplished with such a device ? You can actually entertain yourself thinking about it, and you can even strike up conversations about it. But everyone knows it is just a fantasy, hopefully.

Think of it, you can stop time but you can move objects. As much as I hate to say it, but is true, the frst thing would be a couple of bank heists. But can I do that ? The way it would be done someone who is innocent will have to fall on the axe so to speak. Missing money is not taken lightly. You would be sending an innocent, possibly even honest Man to jail, when in a way it is you who belongs there.

Back to the drawing board.

Anyway, I have rambled sufficiently now, but I would still like to ask this. What do "some people's children" have to do with hearing voices ?

T

This is Darcy

It makes me smile that if you go to Church and you hear voices than you're blessed but if you're not religious and you hear voices then you're disturbed.

Who's to say that that the voices that I hear (not that I do, sadly) aren't God/Allah/Mohammed/L Ron Hubbard?

It's suggested that if you do hear voices then you're schizophrenic, but I say look on the bright side - at least with schizophrenia you'll never be lonely*.

Yes.  Which supports my belief that religion is mass insanity.

Exactly, Darcy..except it can be really annoying when i want to sleep and one of the voices wants to talk - or worse two of them start to argue *rolls eyes*

I understand a Dom not wanting to have a sub who hears  voices, but can we have a few imaginary friends?

I like them. They make more sense than the people around Me do.
