One thing I will say is this, LIGHT can be a BIG security measure.
IF you own your own home, I would install flood lights all around the perimeter.
Those automatic lights that come on, when someone walks within 20 feet of your
door are a must have!
There are many inexpensive home alarm systems.
Even if you don't have one, you can put up a sign saying you do.
You can also put up a sign saying, BEWARE of dog. {again even if you don't have one}
Gates are always great!
I am a big believer in always securing the perimeter!
It is YOUR property and you have the right to set up booby traps if necessary.
Those gates with the barbed wire at the top, are nice also.
My mother had the basement windows bricked in, which is legal as long as no-one sleeps down there
{I think}.
Of course, bars on all the windows, etc.
Also, all entrance doors should have a gated door installed in front of the regular doors.
All the regular doors should be made of steel.
Good locks on all your doors!

Laugh if you want, but our house was never burglarized and we lived there over 35 years, within walking distance of S.E. Washington, D.C. {when D.C. used to have one
of the largest crime rates in America.}
Several of our neighbors, had break ins, but our house was fortified and not worth all the effort
it would take to get in it!
My mother even had an old barbed wire gate in front of the basement steps, lol
She had a few more things also, I just can't list them all.
On top of all this crap, she also had a gun.
Damn if I know where she got it from, she never used it.
By the way, my mother was a little school teacher!

Another wow, MzMia damn. Are the GirlScouts safe selling cookies where you live? Quite a comprehensive list! Not too sure if booby-traps are legal though, but interesting (and deviant) thoughs arise! sbfy homeowners or rental insurance is a good thing to have as are neighbors that watch unless you run around naked like me and don't want watched. And hunky hon, maybe you shouldn't watch so much creepy stuff. I think the tv and internet give a skewed view of the world because it is easier to sell awful stuff over good stuff. As for me?I don't even own a key to any of my doors. There is a big doggy though and I also have a nifty bbgun somewhere.
