Has anyone here read DeSade?

I feel so alone in the classical sense here at times.

My personal favorites were "Justine"

And "Philosophy in the bedroom"

Read a bit of Marquis de Sade... Justine being the primary one that comes to mind. I found the moral of the story to be a good one, but I didn't enjoy the story itself. I'm just not a big fan of the man's style. Even though they're not really comparable, other than the fact they're often mentioned in the same breath, I enjoyed Sacher-Masoch a lot more.

Well the translation comes across as archaic and stilted-it was in french. But I did enjoy the ways that he expressed the moment-and the particular evils were expressed with great exhuberance-is if he knew the reactions of the prudes who might be reading them,as well as the libertines.

I read some of the 100 days of Sodom. It was pretty awful, actually.

Well,that one was meant to be pretty awful-he broke every taboo of decency and criminal conduct in that one. Purposely, I think.

And it's an unfinished work, as I recall(never read it). So it's probably still rather rough.

Not really-like much of his work, it has a mix of crudeness and elegance. The bestial, combined with some sublime moments. It did teach me quite a bit about what it means to be sadistic..

Caligula was interesting. Much more intense.

You are absolutely correct... I saw DeSade and thought Caligula. Caligula was fascinating, disturbing and very intense.

I know little of the Marquis work I do know that he was fond of useing many words to describe the penis and usually in a Glorified Light where as many of the depictions of the female genitalia were dark or violent "nash" was one I think he coined that was rather harsh in its tone.

I know some good limerics if you wver wanna hang out and go fishing though.

I prefer fish from the store-it's more time efficient.

As far as fisting? It must appeal to my sense of humor......

"Sock puppet" always comes to mind in that sort of situation.

So you know Fishing isn't about catching fish. In reality it teaches great patience. It was how one of the Guys who helped me along Taught me the value of Patience. Some of the very best bass and trout in the world are the small ones you catch as the sun is going down.
