ORIGINAL: Termyn8or Any way, when looking for supplements, look for minerals. Your body manufactures vitamins out of minerals. If you get them you should be fine. It's been said a couple of times but I'll repeat, NO! Vitamins by definition are not produced in sufficient quantity or not produced at all by the organism in question. Minerals may or may not be involved in the sythesis of these compounds in those organisms that do sythesize them but for people, we only syntesize vitamin D at all and only then if we're out in the sun and we get Vitamin K from intestinal flora, all that matters is actually getting those compounds in our diet.. For most people though, a balanced diet is all that is necessary to get all the viatmins you need. Vitamin D might be an issue if you don't get outside enough and if you don't making sure to drink some vitamin D fortified milk isn't a bad idea. Yep, good idea. I seem to recall from my Nutrition textbook that Biotin is made in the gut, too. Balanced diet is the best way to get vitamins and minerals. My body seems to like a mostly vegetarian diet, and I occasionally supplement w/ B-12, chromium, Folic acid, & cold water fish-oil caps. And chocolate, gummi bears, and ice cream. Essential nutrients.
