slaveboyforyou -> Men's clothing (3/11/2008 11:08:15 PM)

I was at work today having a smoke out back with a few of my female co-workers.  It's starting to get warm here, so I needed some short sleeve shirts for work.  Men have to wear collared shirts.  We have the option of wearing tailored shirts that you have to tuck in, or shirts that are cut square at the bottom that you don't tuck in.  Well this woman commented that she liked my shirt, and I laughed. I told her that, I bought a really comfortable camp shirt last year from Cubavera.  So I found a website and bought the same shirt in 8 different colors.  She laughed and said, that's definitely a "man thing."

Which I suppose it is.  I do the same thing with lots of clothing.  I found a pair of slacks I liked, and bought the same pair in 4 different colors.  I found a pair of shoes that I absolutely love.  They are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn.  So I bought a black and brown pair.  I am just picky, and I stick to things that I like.  Plus, I am not much of a fashion slave.  I know I am not the only person that does this.  Anyone do similar things, or even find something wrong with it?

I don't see anything wrong with it as long as your happy. This is not something that I do but I know people who do. My Mom does this with a blouse she likes or shoes. She will buy it in 3 or 4 different colors. So I don't think its strictly "a man thing". As long as your happy thats all that matters.

I tend to buy mens shirts (and sometimes slacks, for work) because they're cheaper...LOL

soul2share -> RE: Men's clothing (3/11/2008 11:30:05 PM)

I wear sleeveless shirts pretty much year round....i found some that I liked at wal-mart about 4 years ago, bought one of each color...and two of the ones I really liked....clothes don't fit me all that well, my body is shaped all weird, so when I find something that fits, yep...same kind, different colors!  Even did the same with a pair of black flats...i have 3 pairs of those!

Reflectivesoul -> RE: Men's clothing (3/11/2008 11:35:54 PM)

I am not usually one to do this, but I recently found a t-shirt that I absolutely love and was made well ( ty fashion bug) and so I bought several of them different colors of course, and they look great with my jeans so its all good lol.

I figure if you find something that works and you're comfy, who cares *shrugs*.

slaveboy, yeah, I do that too.
As a matter of fact it's about time that I went onto Shepler's site and buy my 4 pairs of wrangler jeans for this year.
I found some regular white socks that are super comfortable at Costco so I bought 30 pairs of them.
I only have to do laundry once a month as I have enough stuff to last me.

I do that, just not to that degree [:D]. I found a nice shirt at Dillards that fits well, so I got a couple in different colors... it's hard for me to find shirts that fit, so when I do, I try to get more than one.

subboi3382 -> RE: Men's clothing (3/12/2008 4:02:04 AM)

I do it a bit, though not as much as i mean to or think it would

SugarMyChurro -> RE: Men's clothing (3/12/2008 4:04:41 AM)

Why do you buy different colors?

i wish i could do that!  i can't find mens shirt that will fit me.  my company every year buys several shirts for each employees but they are mens shirts so i have to  politely decline because they are so ill fitting on me...too tight in the chest, too big in the shoulders, it's frustrating!

OP, the only thing i usually buy the same thing of in quantity  is t-shirts....like 15 at a time, 5 or 6 being white....

oh, and i do it with bras as well, sometimes it's almost impossible to find a good one that fits, and having colors is fun!

if he bought the shirts in the same color it would look like he never changed his clothes...[sm=smile.gif]

adoracat -> RE: Men's clothing (3/12/2008 4:34:13 AM)

i do that with panties.  i'm really picky about what i will wear, so for me its find something i like, and get several pairs in each color.

miss satan and i went shoe shopping the other day...mama called while we were out and satan told her we were shoe shopping, and she said "WELL! its good that i'm not there, you're both unsufferable in your shoe pickiness!!"  and she's right.  foot comfort is a MUST.

If you would leave the top three or four buttons unbuttoned it would be less confining.[:D]
Not to mention the boost to the moral of your male co-workers and the chagrin and envy of your less endowed female co-workers.

Having perved your profile I will take this opportunity to loose myself in a moment of reverie.

Bound2One -> RE: Men's clothing (3/12/2008 4:55:16 AM)

Sure, I do this all the time when shopping - especially with things like t-shirts or camisoles that fit well.  I have cami's in every color of the rainbow.  I also have done it with pants 'cause if they fit, I want more of them.

RCdc -> RE: Men's clothing (3/12/2008 4:59:58 AM)

I have bought the same tops in the same colour if I really like them.  Seeing as my wardrobe is nothing but black, buying other colours would be fruitless for me.[;)]

I don't find it strange at all.  Quite time saving actually.

petdave -> RE: Men's clothing (3/12/2008 6:42:00 AM)

Absolutely... i hate shopping for clothes, so when i have to, i find something that fits well and buy as many as i can afford. As mentioned, i try to get at least two colors (black and gray/blue/khaki/whatever) so it looks like i change my clothes once in a while [:D]

kittinSol -> RE: Men's clothing (3/12/2008 6:47:11 AM)

I do that sometimes. If a piece of clothing is particularly nice, I'll get a couple of them - especially with things like jumpers. It's not unusual, and certainly, not pure male behaviour :-) .

pahunkboy -> RE: Men's clothing (3/12/2008 6:55:16 AM)

Hey OP, great topic!

I do the same.  well specifically with socks and underwear.   I am not easy to please when it comes to fit and fiber.  Therefor when I find a item that fits- I get a batch.   Note on socks and underwear there is a variation, and when one goes to buy more the next year, [8 mos] that the style has changed.  i dont have a 1 size fits all.  the right socks mean eveyrthing if you are on your feet all day.

there is a thrift store near the university that had nice color t-shirts- the quality type for $1 a peice, oh still new, newish. so i bought them all.

Simm to Popeye I dont like to do laundry- so having more clothess IS easier.  They fade and wear out as you wash them.  Males dont have to be a fashion savy as the ladies.

...especially since hitting my mid 30s my waistline changes with the wind.

Good point. I doubt this concerns you, hunky, but bras are a great thing to buy in multiples. If a bra fits, I'll get three of them - 'cos bra buying's a pain in the arse [:D].

...at night i wear baggy t-shirts of 50% or more cotten.  feet are important.  wet feet are bad. feet sweat- as do hands. [anyone that wore a hand brace and had it smell like a musty sneacker knows] anyhow  i go thru socks - like 3-4-5 pair a day.    [sweat]  someone said i need zinc. i dont know.
when i did construction, i bought these socks designed for being on the feet.

in the 70s [there-abouts] 80s fashion per unisex got manlike.  bUt now the same fashion, unisex is too woman like.   i dont like to wear frilly stuff!!   granted i am not a lumber jack...but  the frilly stuff on men is argggghhh!!!!
