Losing? Perhaps, to some. I like the lyrics in the U2 song, "One", in regards to love.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j-rhEUuPIs

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...
Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

One

Holy shit, that is hot ! Thanks for the link!

I think Lindsay Buckingham is a waaaay underappreciated guitar god, and song writer. Dude really whips it in that tune, don't he ?

Btw way, I get the "point" of the song. Fear is like a diamond we hold in our hands. We can look at it, closely, examine it, feel it, completley, and, finally see through it... or not.

I love Amy Winehouse.  This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8z4oKr_SN4 is the music video for Love is a Losing Game.  There's just something about her voice and the jazzy, bluesy feel to some of her music and her vibe that I enjoy.  I know she's not everyone's cuppa tea.  I hope she's not one of those who dies young ... she truly needs a lot of help to survive.

Yes, exogenous, it's a great song and I haven't seen/heard that  song before. Thanks for the link.

Yes, when it comes down to it, despite , whatever, it's all about One Love , One Blood, One Life, ain't it?
Keep rockin' on. And thanks for posting the lyrics. It's great !

Yea, rehab sucks, but it can open a path to sanity, if you wanna go there, or not.

Thanks for the link, Bound2One.
I agree, Amy is not everyone's cup of tea, but, as I said, thank goodness they make 57 flavors, at least.

The vid version you posted, although I enjoyed and appreciate it, is a bit too slow for me. She sounds like she's stuck in glue and dreading rehab. Can ya blame her ?

The song is ok; a bit slow for my tastes.

I feel if I were to grok it fully, I would become emotionally drained.

Personally, I like to grok things fully. If it drains me emotionally, that's ok,. The pump is always full and a refill is just around the corner.

oh Honey...why would you do that to Yourself.....what happened.....tell us all about it but stop this self injurious behavior at once.

Im assuming you have your tongue in your cheek here. But, we all know what happens when we assume, especially on line.

So, I will take you at you word. Nothing "happened" to me except life. And life is good.

You’re welcome.

quote:

I wonder, though, if love is "unconditional", even though that seems to be the ideal. Maybe some achieve it , I dunno.

It seems to me, loving someone is being responsible for yourself, in light of them; and being just, by allowing them their liberties; according to their capabilities.

Have I grokked it wrongly?

If I have grokked it rightly, it is imperative that love be unconditional; yes?
quote:

I'm happy that it seems to be working out for you two, though.

It is a work in progress; I am only but an egg.

quote:

Best Wishes to you and Yours

Thank you; I will pass the message along.

In my understanding of love, because it comes from inside; the only way to loose at it, is to not love myself. I am not in a place where it would be beneficial to grok Amy’s song fully right now; perhaps another time. However, if I did not say it before; I can still appreciate it. :)

Here is my song contribution to the thread. I love the vocals, especially hers; it leaves me… breathless.

LaTigresse -> RE: Love is a losing Game ? (3/12/2008 9:21:30 AM)

I enjoyed Amy's music for several years now and was glad to see this latest CD do well. But then I like most all music and take it for what it is.......not what the top 40 playing stations would always like it to be.

Most people that see my CD collection think I must be mad, certifiably insane. It is so diverse. Everything from Aerosmith to Mozart to Zydeco, Best Of. Old R&B recordings so rare you have to dig through obscure websites to find, new southern blues from the swamps. A grand collection of Prince CDs. Santana, Ricky Martin's two decent CD's, some crazy Australian guy playing instruments I'd never seen before, and some really haunting zen type orchestra oriental meditation music, lots of classical, a good amount of old country like George Jones and Willie Nelson, some beautiful celtic music, so yeah crazy mixed up pile. You name it and you will likely find it.

[:D] - if you get past the bizzarro guitar solo... it rocks I like to think.

Stop it, LaT, You are making me hot, even though I am not "Your flavor". Still works for me.

Anyhow, since You like eclectic music, have You checked out Nawang Kechog ? He was/is a Tibetan monk who spent years living in a cave and, apparently, besides meditating, learned to play the shit out of the flute. He emigrated to Australia, and learned to play the(shit, it's on the tip of my tongue, but I can't spit it out ) , you know the Australian aboriginal long tube thingy that sounds so primal.

I particularly like a CD of his called " Quiet Mind ". I dunno if his stuff is availabele on sites like Napster, and such, but I would think so. He's made quite a few CD's.

I'm with You on this. I listen , and enjoy, to a lot of  different stuff. Btw, Prince, imo, waaaaay underappreciated .  Cheers

Rocks, dude. Thanks for the link, I enjoyed and grokked it fully.

Yea, Lindsey B is a major guitar god. And I'd love to bend Christine McVie over her keyboard and go my own way.

But, for Lindsey, Stevie, Christine, John and Mick, love was a losing game, wasn't it ?

charmdpetKeira -> RE: Love is a losing Game ? (3/12/2008 4:23:26 PM)

Here’s another of my recent favorites. For some strange reason, when I watch it; I get a very strong urge to be a guitar.

Not to mention, the message in the video is priceless.

Yea, Keira, I enjoyed it too. Thanks for posting it.

So you wanna be a guitar, sometimes ? I bet you would be nice to strum and pick.

cjan -> RE: Love is a losing Game ? (3/12/2008 5:04:24 PM)

I wish I could post  a link to this video, but it won't seem to play from the link. But, I wonder what y'all think of Amy Winhouse (Yes, sorry, Amy again) in her video of "Tears Dry on Their Own " ?

I like the song and the vid. The vid mostly because of the characters on the street. It reminds me of all the things I love and hate, and sometimes miss, about living in a big city. Besides, I like Amy's apparent toughness.

Sorry I can't post a useful link to it, you'll have to Google it ,I guess ,but, if anyone is interested, I'd like to hear comments.
