Geraldine Ferraro:

quote:

Ferraro, who ran for vice-president on Walter Mondale's ill-fated 1984 ticket, told a California newspaper, "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position". She continued, "And if he was a woman ... he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept".

The Democratic Party has always played up race, gender, and class. It is not surprising to me that these kind of comments are regularly being said during this contest. A leopard can't change it's spots.
And if Obama is leading in delagates and popular vote and still loses the nomination to Hillary, you will see all hell break loose.

I think this is just another example that show's what a mistake Hilary would be to elect.  It is often said that a President is only as good as their advisors, so let us look at the type of people Hilary has already surrounded herself with during her campaign (we won't go into all of her controversies from other times, such as White Water, Filegate, or Travelgate).  First she has to fire 2 campaign aides because they circulated false emails about Obama's faith, now she has a person (whom I will not even dignify by using her name) who makes such an outlandish comment as saying that people are caught up with Obama because he is black (I suppose it is solely the issues that make women her biggest supporters and not the fact that she is a woman as well).  And finally we come to her better half, Bill, whom is only one of 2 presidents to ever be impeached, as well someone who, on camera, lied to a Grand Jury (which i should remind you is the same thing that Barry Bonds could go to jail for).  I mean seriously people, look at her past, and her present.  If you can't see how manipulative, cut-throat,  dishonest and evil she is, than I fear for our country.

I'm sure we'll see the uproar from the left, and soon.

This, and what Gloria Steinem said, is incredibly disappointing.

Tho' Steinem isn't a part of Clinton's campaign... I'm very curious what happens now the campaign looks like turning nasty.  Less so with the more generalised take on the politics of gender/race.  Anyone who aims for the top echelons of politics and gets there has "luck" of one kind or another.

Maybe the boil has been lanced and the thing will move on now.  Maybe...

Ferraro fires back:

quote:

"I have to tell you that what I find is offensive is that everytime somebody says something about the campaign, you're accused of being racist," Ferraro told Fox News Channel.

" 'Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up. Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?' "

Well you're right about that, it's always race, gender and class with the lefties.
But, I think they'll all fall in line behind Hillary when the time comes.
If I were a Democrat I don't think I'd want to be associated with the lefties though.
Talk about "taking a ride on the short bus."

From what I recall, President Clinton was never impeached.  It was talked about, but he was never impeached.

In my opinion, it is about time someone finally stepped up & mentioned what families all across America are talking about & what is being whispered about in the work place & other public venues.  People are talking about race & people are talking about gender.  It is just not politically correct to talk about it in public or in any place where someone can hear it & be offended by what is being said.  People are not only discussing it, but you know what? People are actually voting because of race &/or gender.  It is a fact.  Not talking about it doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Actually, if people were to bring these discussions out in the open, more of us would know where people stand,  & possibly why they are acting accordingly.  We all would be much better equipped to make a decision based on things that aren't hidden away in whispers.

Thank you TheHeretic for your backing.  As we all should know, President Clinton was impeached.  Impeachment is a 2 step process, in which the first step (at least in the President's case) has the House of Representatives vote for or against the articles of impeachment.  If these articles are approved, then the President has formally been impeached (you can kind of think of the House as the grand jury).  The second step is where the Senate actually hears the case and then votes whether the President is to be removed or not.  Impeachment does not necessarily equal being removed, as  they are 2 seperate steps.  A President can be impeached for "high crimes and misdemeanors" which of course perjury would qualify as.  Keep in mind had you or I (or anyone else who wasn't the President) been in Bill Clinton's shoes, we would have had been thrown in jail (just look at what is happening to Barry Bonds and possibly Roger Clemens).  We have had 43 Presidents in our country's history, and yet only 2 have ever been impeached.  Do we really want him anywhere near a position of authority (and don't say he wouldn't be, as you can bet he will be one of Hilary's top advisors, just as he is one of her biggest campaigners).  The Clinton family is not one that has a very good reputation with honesty or following the law (again I bring up White Water, Filegate, and Travelgate), why in the world do we want people like that leading and representing our country?
