This is just more proof that anyone can get into government.

And to think there's poor saps out there who believe the government is the best qualified to tell us out to live our lives.  [;)]

wow.... [8|] i think its sad that people can actually be bullied online, i mean ive never been afraid to sit behind a pc screen... what a thought!

Yea it's sad, but it happens. I remember being in a chat room and someone typed that they went over and spanked someone else in the room. The girl who got spanked and several of her friends carried on about it for over an hour about how terrible this was and how could he do that to her. She would be scarred for life and on and on. I tried to point out that the girl hadn't really been hit, that this was all online and none of it was real but they didn't seem to care. Their freind had been assaulted and they wanted justice. I suggested we just shoot the guy as he sits there, but I don't think they saw the humor in that either.

Oh well, on to the OP.....I really doubt he can get it passes and if he does, I don't see how it can be inforced.

Perhaps you and Firmhand might invite this Republican fascist POS to dinner and inform him of his duties and responsibilities as a representative of the people of the state of Kentucky.

For my sites, I'll just alter the Terms of Service.  Something along the lines of:

"This site does not comply with the laws of the Commonweath of Kentucky.  If you are a resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, your usage of this site constitutes a waiver of any all 'registration requirements' as required by Kentucky law (cite the law section here)."

End of problem.

i'm just wondering if this is the lack of moonshine distilleries because of them blowing up all the time or if Kentucky has nothing better to do untill the horse racing season starts............................... btw no harm meant just kidding around, spent many summers there visting relatives.

Isn't this a reaction to the schoolgirl who killed herself after weeks of cyber harrasment and defamation.  Not that I support the idea, or imagine it will go anywhere.

DesFIP -> RE: Kentucky wants to make anonymous posting illegal (3/11/2008 11:29:20 AM)

There have been children bullied, whose parents put them in different schools, but the bullies followed them online, spreading rumors and lies to the new schoolmates. Some of these kids, with no recourse, have committed suicide. Perhaps that's what he's worried about.

I see no problem in having to register name and address with a website, but not posting the name online. If underage, it just makes it easier for offenders to stalk. Better to put into place requirements that must be met for the website admins to release that info. The FBI could subpoena the info if needed.

chellekitty -> RE: Kentucky wants to make anonymous posting illegal (3/11/2008 11:33:29 AM)

where are these children's parents?! both the bullies and the bullied?! why does the government have to attempt to make laws in order to take over the job of parents, how about their parents cut off their internet access rather than inacting laws that have global impact? how about a little personal responsibility, or is that too much to ask?

exactly.... why the hell do the school not have anti bulling rules? There are severial PTA orgs who support anti bulling in schools and also in online communities the kids are on. There are concequences for those who do bully others.

So since parents can not be *bothered* do deal with thier little brats being assholes to other kids.. and schools do not enact anti-bulling ( collumbine anyone? ) rules from elementary up... we as adults world wide have to have crazy laws like this being concidered.

People need to be more involved with thier kids.. and thier schools.. and thier kids teachers. My son was being a jack ass to his school mates. I straightened his shit out.

Also I am not buying this whole thing of it is 100% of "think of the children"

if the sites have to register all of your info on any comment and you talk against the govt... I am betting it is just to streamline thier access to databases is all.

If the records have to be handed over to the govt.. well what a better way? And I dont buy that whole load of shit if you have nothing to hide you sholdnt be worried. The fact I want free speech.. and the ability to call the prez a wanker is worriesome enough.

Gay websites could be culled to do a list of gays and be rounded up.. jewish, black, SMBD, or anything else they think as perverted...

Yeah I can see it now... I wonder what the patch for pervert would be. I am sure if they rounded up jews it would still be the star of david..

Yeah.. no.

Kentucky should make anti bulling rules in thier schools. issue solved.

Gwyn
