I have a small plot at the community garden and am going to plant beans, peas, tomaters, peppers, some lettuce and broccoli and *crosses fingers* try to go potatoes in frickin arkansas heat and humidity. I think it is a lost cause, but damn it I have to try. My dad would be ashamed if I didn't. ;) (he grows potatoes in his garden..gets hundreds of pounds.)

PLANT???!!! That's assuming that winter is ever going to go away. Right now, i'm not even sure that there is still grass, let alone earth to plant things in..*throws self on the bed and sobs hysterically*

i would love to be able to grow some good sized tomatoes in a container garden, something my boys won't kill while playing football in the yard.  my mom used to grow tomatoes, green peppers, cukes and beans when i was a little kid.  i miss the taste of fresh tomato right from the garden.

I'm staying away from the sweet corn this year, thanks to my diabetes. Instead I'll be upping the number of lettuce, cabbage and tomatoes. I'm also planting a line of raspberry and blackberry bushes along my property line, both for the fruit, and to act as a natural fence between me and my neighbors. They've been riding their ATV's over my lot, ripping up the grass.

I'm also planting a willow tree, mostly because I want an endless supply of thin switches. :)

It's just for the beauty, not the medicinal effects.
Exactly. Pods are as beautiful as the flowers. I find viewing pods very relaxing.

Yes.. the pods are relaxing... making you want to fall asleep... next to the pods... the huge pods... the pods that slowly take you over in your sleep and duplicate you.... I am not a pod... I am not a pod...

Stay away from planting weeping willows, as it will eventually find it's way to the sewer connector. The roots will grow and eventually clog the line.

I wonder if a weeping cherry has the same effect? *eyes the tree outside her bedroom*

After spending hours on that site I posted earlier, here's my plan. Big giant 1-2 lb tomatoes, green and red peppers, lettuce of various sorts, parsley, cucumbers and zuchini. More to be added, I'm sure.
