ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—PGA Tour golfer Tripp Isenhour was charged with killing a hawk on purpose with a golf shot because it was making noise as he videotaped a TV show.

Isenhour was with a film crew for “Shoot Like A Pro” on Dec. 12 at the Grand Cypress Golf course. The 39-year-old golfer, whose real name is John Henry Isenhour III, was charged Wednesday with cruelty to animals and killing a migratory bird.

The charges carry a maximum penalty of 14 months in jail and $1,500 in fines.

I don't know...A hawk is not a big target. The reality is that he would probably would scare it away before hitting it. I guess the point is why even try? All to random of a chance to get seriously in a twist over the outcome which was far from inevitable.

Bad choice. Now kill a Canadian Goose on a golf course and you might get a reward.

He obviously took a large number of shots in his attempts and allegedly stated that "I'll get him now."

I do believe in innocent until proven guilty, but there is a LOT of suspect details here.

i don't really see a professional GOLFER as being of any greater benefit to the earth than a hawk. His biggest contribution to society is hitting a little white ball with a metal stick, then chasing after it and hitting it again? Jesus. Let him eat field mice for a few years.

And his latest excuse isn't all that believeable either... apparently he was only trying to miss it by a fraction of an inch...

"...I want to let everyone know there was neither any malice nor deliberate intent whatsoever to hit or harm the hawk. I was trying to simply scare it into flying away."

I wasn't aware that hawks are "migratory birds."
We see geese and ducks and all kinds of other birds migrating here but never hawks.

"Look, a gaggle of hawks."

Well, if his defense was he was trying to scare the creature, after failing at numerous attempts, perhaps he should have gone back to his video.

To continue 'trying to scare' the creature, when it was obvious it was not working, one has to think of his rage at this point, a point when deter becomes hit.
