I spoke to gram on the phone.  She sounds chipper today. She told me she has to tell [uncle] John, about the man that is in her cellar...playing records, running up her electric bill so that she cant pay it, and making it hot in here.

I suspect if she hears something it could be a radio or the gas station/stores across the street.
But she is convinced a man is in her cellar.   A few weeks ago she told me John was mean/crabby to her.  Who knows.

Pahunk, i can relate. I am the legal guardian for my 83 yr. old aunt who has been schizophrenic for the last 60 years.  Usually she is very lucid but she sometimes hullicinates mainly about dead relatives and she starts talking to them.  I find it sad and amusing at the same time. Fortunately she has very good care givers.

she could be hearing music, or what her brain interprets as music, due to nerve damage in her hearing receptors.  one of those weird things that happens as we get older, the sensations change and we try to assign something familiar to the new input.  my great grandma did the same thing, swore up and down there were people playing music in her house.  she's been gone now for many years, but i still remember her trying to convince me there were people singing in the next room while we were sitting in her living room.  she thought i was nuts for not hearing them.

She had  at least one stroke  20 years ago.  She was angry at my mom this past spring and for a while the mind was better. The thing is this condition deteriorates...where in her case- i suspect that others who may ormay not be family  ...  I liston alot cause if i say things that challenge her she gets upset.

I told my sister to get out here before too long... i guess i just wanted to complain about this.  Thanks.

I help take care of an 80 year old father in law with dementia. Some days are good where he is clear and lucid and then their are days where the bugs are crawling everywhere and the doorbell keeps ringing (they don't have a doorbell). When he has alot of bad days in a row it does make it quite stressful. I understand what you are feeling and going through. It helps to vent sometimes.

Mine are all dead it's kind of a blessing really as I no longer have to worry about bars of soap ending up in the fridge.[8|]
