Yes, a rare but much needed skill here. What the fuck makes him think he can just come here, I don't think I can just come there.

If he comes here in a car, it better be a 1998 because there ain't many jobs here selling avacados.

And you ain't heard the last of it, Canada likes it too, kill NAFTA and they will sell their oil to China they say. That is word of mouth and I do have to look into it, but the source is usually good.

Y'know nature abhorres a vacuum. Wind occurs when there is an imbalance of air pressure in the atmosphere.

What is going to happen is that there will be enough of a pool of cheap labor that the standard of living will decrease here to the point where they will no longer want to come here. In fact at that time, because of variations in different people's personal circumstances, some of us might want to go there.

And of course our bubbleheaded politicians for the last 100 years don't even realize that if they do everything the lobbyists want, the dollars they were bribed with to do it will become worthless.

Yes I said that.

A cure for that ? I don't want to hijack.

This will interest those of you who are concerned about a North American Union and who will foot the bill to build up the Mexican physical infrastructure.  There's loads of information on the SPP and CFR.  It's such a major issue (imho) that i'm surprised more people aren't getting a little nervous about it.

Free trade within Europe has increased trade and saved jobs going to the far east and has benefited everyone in Europe. It has increased the wealth of poor countries and has had no obvious detrimental effect on the rich countries. Resistance of course always comes from vested interest groups that feel they will lose out but most of those resistance groups would probably lose out anyway because companies will be forced to outsource to stay in business or just go under if protectionism is brought into action. There is no reason why NAFTA shouldn't produce the same results.

The US can no more hold onto mundane manufacturing jobs than any other developed country which is why developed nations need to concentrate on hi-tech products with a highly educated workforce. Unfortunately in countries like the US and Britain where ideological capitalism is rife, education standards have been going down while competitors education standards are going up.

NAFTA isn't the US's problem anymore than the EU is a problem for the ever whinging Britain. Internal structural problems are the real issue and the willingness to sacrifice the nations talent on the altar of capitalism, which is ironic because both countries are running scared of capitalism and free trade.

Actually, I think capitalism is just over harvesting the planet for a load of cheap shite and is deeply flawed in the way it wastes valuable resources and despoils the planet.

Among those not realizing it are those from central and south America that believe the Hollywood version of life in the states and come here illegally thinking life is just so wonderful when it isn't necessarily so.

Anyway, I oppose illegal immigration but it's not my biggest issue by any means.

Far too frequently we focus on a smaller issue like this because it gives us a focus for our attention: the illegal immigrant. But the illegal immigrant isn't the problem at all, he or she is just a drop in the bucket. The real problems are the political policies that make it happen, like NAFTA. Just as I don't hold each soldier coming back from Iraq personally responsible for the insane warmongering policies of the Bush administration; I don't believe in punishing the little people crossing the border for the faults of the politically powerful.

Hey what the heck.   Iets take the state malitias to Mexico and take it over and bring them into the US.  Change their language and culture and then it won't be a problem.   They won't be illegal any longer they will all be citizens.   That will cut down on border enforcement, and allow us to own the property we bought down there.

I don't hate that idea. I'd say the best place to drop a border we could conceivably protect is just past the Panama Canal. Cede the rest of Panama to Columbia, if they want it.
