General Response ...

AP Headline:
Obama to Hack Rev. Farrakhan to Bits in Front of Chearing Clan Members!

<<clip>> ... according to Rush Limbaugh, the far right will not be fooled by such liberal half measures.

Level, either you've been sleepwalking through the boards, or you're deliberately blind to the current barrage of 'anti-obama' and 'anti-clinton' rhetoric doing the rounds :-) .

I don't care for mudslinging either way.

Give me a break...
Everyone feels sorry for Obama? The man that has gotten a complete free ride from the media. It's so obviously biased they are making fun of it on SNL.

This election is turning into a joke.

I don't think it's Obama people are feeling sorry for, Dude :-) .

I don't feel sorry for him, as a matter of fact, if he ends up being the choice of the Democrats, I whole-heartedly encourage the right to continue with this sort of attack based argument.

We all saw how well that worked for Hillary in the last debate.

mnottertail -> RE: So what is Obama's real beliefs of Farrakhan? (3/3/2008 7:08:56 AM)

well, consider the neo-con competition.  what else should it be but a joke?

Were you looking for some sort of thoughtful, insightful, actual solutions to problems we face? To some sort of meeting of the brightest and best and a will and a way to move forward or to compromise or to solve problems?

And so what free ride is this, what should it cost? What is the issue?

Don't fuck around with the dumbass type of  Farrakhan shit, if something is real and disturbing lets hear it.

And if this is just that he should get a hazing just to prove his worth, get back to high school.

Ron

otherwise come up with a little more lucid than 'free ride'

uhh I`m sorry,lol.

In what way is it a joke?

You don`t have the slightest clue as to how elections(primaries,state committees,national committees,election law/facts etc.)work.

How do you come to feel it`s a joke?

We`re have`n a great time(accept for the bigot shit coming from the right)and we`re very happy.

The primaries are  private parties and you don`t have to come, like it or even worry about it.We`ll be fine without ya.

General reply. As to Mr Obama getting a free ride.....

During the last debate, the two shallow moron reporters went after Mr. Obama for 7 fuck`n mins on the Farrakhan nonsense.

How long did they talk about Iraq?

4 minutes.

MistressMommyNC -> RE: So what is Obama's real beliefs of Farrakhan? (3/3/2008 8:22:50 AM)

Obama's connetion to Isam is well known. His Muslim beliefs only went under a change to more main stream beliefs when he entered politics. A lucky concidence for him to be sure.  As far as he and Farrakhan, to that I say who knows. One cannot go by what a person "says" we have to look at their actions. Remember the OJ Trial of the 1990's? How often did his good attorney's come out and denounce Farrakhan yet each day who were their bodyguards as they went to and from court?  Farrakhan supporters and organizers of the Million Man March. So do we just listen to what they said or do we go by their  actions?  Farrakhan knows he is a boil on the butt of humantiy in the vast majority of people's eyes, do you think he would be stupid enough to demand that a candidate ,he "Wants" to get elected, publically (during the campaign) admit to their relationship?  If we go back and look at the OJ Saga we know he isn't. He remained quiet on the public attitude that was adopted by those involved and conintued on with his agenda.  I see no reason to think it would be different now.

To be fair here, McCaiin also for poltical reasons sucked up to Bush even after the fiasco in S.Carolina in their primary. I can't imagine how much whisky and gin it took to swallow that down, but he did what he had to do at the time. However, I see that as more a personal relationship and having to play nice with a Bush for a couple years to get his shot at the Presidency doesn't have the potential to have an adverse effect on this nation. As once elected, heck even now,  he can distance himself  and it is unlikely the Bush<s> will have any influence at all and it will be their turn to play nice with McCain (I kinda look forward to that :) ).  Obama on the other hand and his Islamic background and connection I just don't view in quite the same way, And thats before we get into his lack of experience, etc......

As a lifelong Democrat  I can tell you I am sick at heart over the choices we have this year.  It's not the first time though.  I live in a state that is one of the last to hold a primary. By the time it gets to us, well regardless of the  names on the ballot to me the choice is almost always between the same two, Piss and Poor.  This  year it is the Pissest and Poorest ever.  Even worse than the late 1980's when we had the good Mass Govorner in the tank, with a hat..Pardon me but that is one those political years that I prefer blocking out for my own sanity.  However, I remained loyal to my party. I have not voted for a Republican since 19 and 85 for any office for any reason.  As I also vote in the primaries no matter the choices.  It's a priviledge one should not take for granted to have a choice (even when the choice is Piss and Poor) so I vote, even if I have to write in a vote, I vote.  I know I will vote for neither of the two left in the Democratic primary this will be another year that I write in a vote..I am still trying to decide who would be best for President...Charlie Brown or Mickey Mouse....It's a tough decision but either is better than what we have on the ballot.  Before you say, wasting your vote, remember that about a decade ago a town fed up with the poor quality of candidates elected overwhelmly a stuffed poodle to the town council so I hold out hope for my candidate :).  Whatever happens in the primary really doesn't matter as I have no intention of voting for either Obama or Clinton in the main Election.  After 22 years  of straight Dem ticket...I will have to take a big swig of whiskey, brace myself and pull the republican lever (if McCain gets the nomination) if it's some total jackarse well I guess I'll have to take a look at the Commuinist guy, or maybe write in Goofy. ( You have no idea what it's like to be a lifelong Dem and finding yourself hoping, praying, please don't let the Republican be as dumb as the Dems, Please don't just this once...I know whatever happens I will not pull a lever for either Clinton or Obama....I will no more be responsible for one of those going in the White House than I was a Bush going in.   On this at least I know I do not stand alone. Being involved in party politics for so many years and having connections throughout the US  it is not at all unusual.  Many of the hardcore solid support mainstream Dems feel that way.  It's truly sad for all of us.  Far to many have no intention of even bothering with the Primary as they have made up their minds neither are acceptable as President.  So don't be fooled by primary results as the only ones really voting are the ones that don't bother to think about a candidate, who he/she is, or what they stand for...but will vote for other superficial reasons (example Clinton is a woman..umm okay then what?) ...But when it is time for the main election in order to win you HAVE to have your strong party base (which isn't there for either of these two and I don't see it happening), and you have to pull in the independents that do not vote in the primaries..Whatever chances these two had (and I didn't intend to vote for either in the primary anyway was there were not my first choice but I would have considered them in the main Election as they were of my party) with the hard core party base of voters and independents they caused it to drop significantly  to almost non existent when they began going for votes with "I'm a woman vote for me, I'm black vote for me." We are gun shy and shell shocked having lived through way to much of the throwing out gender and race card's over the last two decades. It is the best way to get an upsurge in women and minority voters, in the primary but will do little for them in the main election, it is also the best way to turn off the hardcore party base and independents.  To win the primary both lost focus and pandered to elite groups.  BTW I"m female, but I"m as sick of hearing that as the others, and for Hillary its a bad sign, because other women that are not die hard feminist are also sick of the "cards" being pulled out.

Anyway, I'd look back into his past, his connections, his beliefs (those before he wanted to get elected) and draw conclusions.  As we already know more often than not he refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance, or to place his hand over his heart which is our show of respect for this Nation during the playing of our anthem.....Maybe its time to wonder why...if all his "conversions" are heart felt and not poltically motivated..why would his actions not have changed?

Obama Rejects Farrakhan Endorsement

It didn't take Sen. Barack Obama long to reject the endorsement of controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan this past Sunday. NBC News' Tim Russert confronted Obama with the endorsement during his debate with Sen. Hillary Clinton this week. Here is Obama's response:

I have been very clear in my denunciation” of Farrakhan’s history of anti-Semitic remarks, Obama said at the Democratic debate in Cleveland, “I did not solicit his support.” Obama said he “can not censor” individual endorsements but said there is no affiliation with his campaign and Farrakhan. “I can’t say to somebody that he can’t say that he thinks I’m a good guy,” Obama said, citing his support among Jewish Americans and stating that he would make it a priority to soothe historically tense ties between the African-American and Jewish communities in the nation. “I have some of the strongest support from the Jewish community in my hometown of Chicago and in this campaign,” he said, describing himself as a “stalwart” on supporting Israel.

Kind of hard to get a clear answer from Obama about how he feels concerning a guy who thinks the Jews collaborated with Hitler. Why wont Obama come out and fully denounce Louis Farrakhan?

Especially this one.He work`s hard to be an adult and say adult things. But if you`re a 12 yo when Bush takes office, then you really don`t have the adult overview of recent history(other then what you`ve read on right-wing.com.).

Though it`s tough to keep a straight face at times,I embrace the right wing`s silliness and hope to amplify it as much as possible.

MistressMommyNC -> RE: So what is Obama's real beliefs of Farrakhan? (3/4/2008 8:07:07 AM)

I am a life long Democrat, and not one of the add ons either...that were encouraged to infiltrate the party to manuever the primaries (yes Republicans do that..courtesty of Karl Rowe and Newt Gingrich)....I think you are missing the point...we are just sick....and these two candidates truly just make us sick. We are not the far out fringe of the party but the mainstream core dems.....Someone better open their eyes....as for not believing I cant say it bothers me...I have nothing to prove and certainly not on a chat forum lol.......and yes I've voted for Dems I didnt like in the past that would not have been my first choice but I stuck to the party lines..as I didnt think they were harmful to the US...but Hillary and Obama?  Dont even wanna go there.  I only wish that Bill Clinton could run again  I'd like to see him back I believe he would straighten this mess out Shurb has gotten us into but being the mate of the Pres isnt the same as being the Pres.....nope not even to get Bill back in the White House would I vote for Hillary....as for the comment all lies..LOL if he wins the primary just wait til the main election and you will see that stuff plastered all over every media outlet there is.  In that respect Hillary has one up....we all know all there is to know there..theres nothing new for them to trot out..so it'd just be boring to people..not only that ...I doubt with the recession we are heading in now that they really want to remind people of the better days of prosperity with a Clinton in the White House...
