CBS) What if we told you the Pentagon has a ray gun? And what if we told you it can stop a person in his tracks without killing or even injuring him? Well, it’s true. You can’t see it, you can't hear it, but as CBS News correspondent David Martin experienced first hand, you can feel it.

Pentagon officials call it a major breakthrough which could change the rules of war and save huge numbers of lives in Iraq. But it's still not there. That because in the middle of a war, the military just can't bring itself to trust a weapon that doesn't kill.

Yeah, you should be able to access the video on their site, Ken.... they show the army testing it on folks, including the reporter.

It would be interesting to read the technical specs on that weapon.  Energy beams disperse at an insanely quick rate in an atmosphere and over distance, so I am curious what sort of power requirements it has.

That is some really amazing technology.  Will it be available in a home version that would keep the Baptists off my doorstep?

I am going to ask popeye, if he will volunteer and let me practice using
it on him.
popeye loves guns, but this one won't hurt him.

i don't mind the baptists so much, they go away; it's the jehova's witnesses i could really use that one for.  they're impossible to get rid of!  i must look like i need salvation.

A good bit of pain and no damage?  I can't believe masochists aren't screaming to get a personal version.

The scientist in me wonders about the increased chance in skin cancer this may cause.  Sadly, Biology is the one scientific subject I sorely lack in.  I think there's something about radiation having to be of a certain wavelength to affect the appropriate portions of whatever it is in the cell's nucleous to make it cancerous, but from a general standpoint, it looks like this could be a cancer gun.

PS-  I wonder if a similiar technology's employed for conducting intarrogations (sp?)?

Okay, I don't think this ray gun would work on the Jehova's witnesses, I think
they would still keep coming.
Like those zombies in the movies, they are nearly impossible to stop.

I think the trick for JW's is to NOT feed the rottweiler

The possibilities for such a thing seem pretty vast.  They say it doesn't have harmful after-effects "if used properly."  That sounds like a cancer warning to me.
