The Clinton campaign audaciously tried to lower expectations for itself on Friday, putting out a memo and arguing on a conference call with reporters that there's "a problem" with Barack Obama if he cannot win Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island, and Vermont on March 4th.

The Clinton campaign made this argument even though its top surrogates have been arguing for weeks that the former first lady can -- and must -- win both Ohio and Texas on March 4th. The effort to move the goal post is likely a last-minute realization on the part of the Clinton camp that Texas, which allocates delegates based on a quirky primary-caucus system, might be slipping away from the former first lady.

"If he cannot win all of these states with all this effort, there's a problem," wrote Clinton strategist Mark Penn in a memo released to the press.

Perhaps they've forgotten they didn't legalize marijuana while they were in office?  The Clintons seem to think the whole country has problems with short term memory loss.

That story makes it official, for me: the Clinton campaign is the worst one I can remember. What a clusterfuck, and it makes me oppose the idea of her and her crew in the White House even more.

I'm not sure that Obama is all that great; but she is sure making him look that way because she is so bad.

If she had the media support her husband had, and could turn off the internet, it would be a great plan on her part.

This just out of Hillary Clintons campaign headquarters:

"Obama is unexpectedly kicking my ass, that boy is tearing it up like Bill used to do to Monica, I am gonna have to go over and blow that boy for a job."

Hardly so, a desperate spin, and it is an adversarial contest.

This of course is bad gamboo, if he even takes one of the two states, she is fuckter than one of Bills old cigars.

Shall I finish the quote to the press:

“Because we aren’t trying half as hard as he is and look how well we are doing”

It’s great how they always try to put a positive spin on things.

The nerve of a campaign to try to spin something negative into a positive!

It is a shame but I agree with Level. This is going to go down as one of the worse campaigns every attempted. She got stubborn in her thought that she had to be tough 24/7 just because she was a woman when with her baggage and society has moved forward that just imploded on itself.

People just do not vote for people they do not like.

David, I've had enough spin to last me a lifetime.

True.  Dont the Clintons realize that some people did not vote for George W. Bush in 2004?

The Clintons (and others) seem to not realise that more people voted for Bush both times, than for Clinton either time in %s.  And in fact both Kerry and Gore got a higher % of the popular vote than Bill Clinton did (either time) also.

Clinton will propbably have the place in history as president who got the lowest % of the popular vote in history.

It will be a great "trivia game" question, "Which US president holds the distinction of the first and second lowest % of the popular vote, in an election?", and then giggle about blow jobs.

I remember reading a Tom Dickenson report on the Democratic campaign advisors.  These people basically get rich telling the candidate to run TV ads (which have limited value) that they get a percentage of, and making recommendations based on sketchy poll numbers, and doing things like trying to muffle Al Gore's (for example) record on the environment (his biggest positive) because it was deemed unpopular with voters.

Slicky Willy Clinton came into office bringing campaign advisors from outside the beltway who did a good job, and every Democrat since then has gone with those recommended by the party apparatchiks.  Every Democrat since then has lost.

As various posters have pointed out, the next election is the Democrats to lose, not the Republican's to win.  I suspect Clinton is faring so poorly because she was expected to win, and she took the party advisors to help her win the primaries.  Now she is going the way of all the previous Democratic losers.

I only hope that Obama doesnt change campaign staff after he finishes pounding Billary's coffin nails in next week.

Sinergy, it might be the best thing for not only the cadidates, but for the public, if they'd just do away with those advisors. It just blows my mind.

I watched Obama's guy on ABC's This Week, and hell, he seemed sleazy..... maybe Obama doesn't listen to him much lol.

Rudy certainly hired some dumb-ass advisors.
