I really loved NetFlix, but I did cancell for a while. And they made me some amazing offers to come back as a memeber. Im in the 5 DVD a month level and Im paying the price of 3 movies a month. It actually was a good thing I quit for a while and then came back

Okay, I'm in. I have American Beauty, Being John Malkovich, Boogie Nights, Sideways, and Cinderella Man ready to go. [8|] I appreciate all the responses, folks, and of course, am always happy to hear more.

christine1 -> RE: Netflix (2/29/2008 6:39:42 PM)

i have the unlimited blockbuster online plan.....i get 3 movies at a time, as often as i want during the month...unlimited movies basically.  i can take the mailed movies to a store and switch them out for a free in store rental.  that is what keeps me with them.

We'll be expecting in-depth movie reviews, Level. [:D]

While the price is now cheaper than blockbuster, netflix is a poor comparison to blockbuster online in my opinion. Netflix does not allow for in store returns, you must wait however long it takes for movies to get there and back.They do not offer cupons or games, like blockbuster does, and they do not have a town based store like blockbuster does.

The only saving grace in my mind, is that they DO allow  you to watch certain movies online, and they have bigger movies out plans than blocbuster does. if you're willing to pay 40 bucks a month you can have about 9 movies out at a time. Blockbuster only allows 3.'

Of course it depends if any of the features blockbuster has is important to you. Do you want cupons and do you want to be able to go into town and go to a bb and get a movie while your old ones return.

If you use, or used Netflix, what are your impressions of it?

IrishMist -> RE: Netflix (2/29/2008 10:15:48 PM)

I had netflix when it first started up...oh..what has it been ? 3 years ago? 4?...something like that...I loved it at the time. The service was great, quick, reliable and the price was top of the line . I stopped it only because I rarely watch anything on television unless its sports and the only youngin still at home hates to watch tv at all...so, it kind of became useless here. But yes, I would recommend it to anyone who asked.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Netflix (2/29/2008 10:22:29 PM)

I've never watched enough TV/Movies to use it, but I have friends who love it.  So when they rent super cool ones, I go to their house.  [8D]

I live by Netflix, and have watched all sorts of amazing films I never would have otherwise. Infinitely worth it.

I dislike Blockbuster since I was in my 20s and working two jobs to support my UM. I owed money on some late movies, not a fortune, but more than I could comfortably part with at the time so I just quit renting from them. I got an account at Hollwood Video when I moved, and when I had a late movie they asked me if I wanted to pay the late fee all at one time, make a small payment, or skip it this time around. I was shocked because at that time BallBuster, I mean Blockbuster, wanted all their money before they would let me rent again. I exclaimed my surprise to the employee at Hollywood Video over their generous policy and he said "We like our customers and want to keep them"[:D]

That experience has made me dislike Blockbuster. I have decided that I will never be a customer of that corporation ever again. When I am at Daddy's and we want to see a new release that he hasn't asked NetFlix forn we go to Hollywood Video... So having NetFlix doesn't keep a person from going to a video store... and since one cannot take their three movies to the Blockbuster and trade them in directly there (from my understanding) I do not see the advantage...

I took the plunge myself, enjoying "March of the Penguins" right off their site... it was on my assignment list anyways... I  think I am going to really like it.

sapphirepleasure -> RE: Netflix (3/9/2008 9:14:44 PM)

I used Netflix off and on for several years, depending on whether I had time to watch movies and I never had any complaints.  In fact, when I was living in New Orleans and the mail service wasn't very reliable, there were a number of times when movies got lost (or stolen) in the mail and they never charged me for them, just sent another one out when I notified them.

I recently tried Blockbuster because I got some kind of deal and I really hated it.  It took 2-3 days to send and receive (as opposed to 1 day with Netflix) and they often waited an extra day after they received my movie to send a replacement.  Also, quite a few of the movies I wanted to see had a wait until they were available.  When I cancelled after a month they gave me 2 months free but as soon as they were up, I cancelled and joined Netflix again.  Since I last used Netflix, they have added the watch online feature, which is kind of nice.  And none of the 60 movies in my queue has a wait.

So you made a good choice, all of you!

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Netflix (3/10/2008 1:00:38 AM)

You have your information wrong. You CAN take your movies back to the store, any store that does the program. I do it every week and then I use the ones I turned in to rent more, while the others on my list come in. I quite regularly have about 6 movies coming in a week. 3 I rented from instore, and 3 coming in the mail. Of course that presents a problem, cause then you have to watch them before the ones due in store ened to go back and I can be lazy about that but oh well, worse problems in life to have, like being broke and bills aint even been all paid yet lol.

I joined last week after first reading this thread.  I got my first movie the day after I signed up.  So far so good.  I do seem to have trouble with how their search works.  Unless you know specific names finding things isn't always that easy.
