If you use, or used Netflix, what are your impressions of it?

It seems to work well for my Daddy. He uses it and it is fairly reliable.

i use blockbuster online...i'm sure it is similar, but i can return my mailed movies to a store and get free rentals with them and not have to bother with putting them back in the mail to return them.

I love it, Level.  I have been a member since January of 2007 and I have never been displeased with them.  They have a wonderful selection of films I can't find other places and I always get them quickly.  There is very rarely ever a wait for any that I choose.  In addition, I have put myself "in line" for new releases and received them the same day they came out at movie rental stores.

They have a great website where I maintain a queue of approx. 250 selections.  It's easy to add/remove titles or rearrange their order.  You can easily see your billing history, your rental history, and the ratings you have given movies.  They make suggestions of others you may like based on what you've rented/rated.

You can freeze or cancel your account at anytime with no hassle.  The price is right as well.  I am on the three movies at a time plan which costs $18.26 a month.  That means, at any given time, I can have three movies out and can keep them as long as I want.  Only when one is returned is another sent.

If one gets lost in the mail, you simply report the problem and they'll send another free of charge.  In the nearly 14 months I've been a member, I think this has only happened once.  It really couldn't be simpler and for a movie lover like me, I have been wonderfully pleased.  They also offer a great selection of TV episodes, documentaries, concerts, etc.  There hasn't been much that I've searched for that they don't offer.

Oh, I forgot.  They also allow you to watch instantly on your pc.  Now this doesn't include all their titles but several thousand selections, I believe.  It used to be that, for every dollar you paid for your plan per month, you could watch an hour free instantly.  They have recently made the hours of instant viewing unlimited.  You can watch a snippet of something to see what it's all about or the whole movie.

I can't recommend it enough.  One of the few deals in life I've found that seems to have had no down side................luci

I've had Netflix for several years and I love it. Quick service (I'm within one days delivery of a distribution center), and when I've had problems with a disc, they are very quick to respond. The website is easy to use, the selection large, the prices reasonable and I'm a loyal customer.

i love it.  Not only can i get movies the regular way, i can go online and watch them from their site as well.

So far only a couple of movies have been lost in the mail when i was returning them, and i was not charged for the lost movies.  Occasionally i have received a movie that was unplayable, and they shipped out a new one the next day, even before they  had received the damaged one back.

i am really liking my Netflix thus far.

When I wasn't a full time student I used Netflix and I thought it was great. They make it really easy for the customer to have a steady supply of movies.

stop.   netflix does NOT prorate its fee.   so 3 days  after the "free trial" cost me $23 + tax. they dont mention tax.

in my opinion, showtime, stars have better value.

We use netflix and we love it. Always have been reliable and quick. We live 30 miles from the nearest video store and this is more convenient. I love being able to keep them for as long as a I want and not being rushed to watch them.

ok-  know this to those involved-  they do NOT prorate the month. so if you ever cancel- lets say you die.  you are billed the full 30 days.  so cancel end of cycle to be ok.

IMO they should prorate.  cable does, phone does. renting a couch does.

I used Net Flix for a while but switched to blockbuster online.  I live about 25 minutes from the nearest rental store so I like that I can have them shipped.  But when I do go to town, I can switch out the movies for free at the store.  I usually rent the 7 day rentals at the store which gives me a week to turn them in or have someone drop them off for me.  I rent the newest movies from online so that I have as long as I want with them.  It is the same, no late fees on mailed ones, but you will incure late fees if the ones from the store are overdue.
I have a long list on my queue and they also allow me to add the movies which are coming soon to video so I dont forget to add them when they do.  I check my list once in a while and rearrange it to suite my desires at the time.  I like that I can search on the site rather than looking thru a million movies at the store (especially when I want an older one).  And when I go to the store I can go knowing exactly what I want when I get there.

I prefer blockbuster online.  And I think its a bit
cheaper too!

We love Net Flix, although their decision to drop HD and go with Blu Ray, though understandable, was still a disappointment.

I've been renting the one dollar movies out of those boxes that are now at grocery stores and McDonalds. New movies, one dollar a day, one day minimum.
Last week I forgot one and ended up owing $8.00, but, still...who cares?!!

But can you rent movies like Slapshot and the original Dawn of the Dead and Harold and Maude?

When I was making a buying choice about Netflix vs. Blockbuster, I went online and found lots of conversation that both services actively seek to retain customers.  So...if you get a better deal from the other while you are a customer, if you go to leave, they offer you better deals (such as paying the same price for a lower-level plan, but getting more movies).

~FR~

If you do cancel Netflix, they give you an option to cancel immediately or to cancel at the end of your billing cycle. Once you cancel, you have seven days to get your last movies back to them. When we went on an extended vacation, I stopped the service for 6 weeks, wasn't billed and resumed when we returned. There were no problems.

Level, also, make sure you take advantage of their free trail. If you end up not liking it, you can just cancel and owe nothing. :)

Celeste - who does not work for Netflix! ::laughs::

I LOVES my Netflix!

I've had good customer service from them the couple of times issues arose, too.  If a movie gets lost in the mail, they give you the benefit of the doubt and just mark it "missing" without penalizing you.  (Mine finally showed up, not sure where it went).

When I very first signed up with a one-week free trial, I think it was, I had some issues with the rural post offices and it took 8 days for my first movie to show up!  I wrote and complained, and they apologized and gave me 2 more weeks free.

When I lived in extreme southern NJ, it would take 2-3 days for a movie to arrive, and then to return, so I wasn't thrilled with the whole system, but that wasn't Netflix's fault, it was the Post Office's, since mail routed through extra offices before it made it to my house.  But since I moved to northern VA, I drop something in a mailbox at 5 p.m., and the next morning, I have an email saying they received it, and the next one is in my mailbox the next day.  It's great!  I have the 4 at a time plan, and I always have something to watch.

I did away with cable tv, now I just watch tv series and movies at night from Netflix.  That saves me about $60/month, and screw you, Comcast!

How come no one told me what a hilarious show Boston Legal was?  lol
