I know why you did it, Hippie, but I think I gain by hearing their rants: I have to know my enemies. But I completely understand your blocking them: some people are toxic.
Well, ya really only need to keep one of them unblocked, as their rants are virtually word-for-word.
It wouldn't be quite so bad if they had the honesty and integrity to admit it when they were wrong, as I did when Maya corrected me about the Indian frybread thing, or CalamitySandra corrected my German (she speaks the local dialect "Kolsch" also)(I can't remember which nitwit was trying to correct your French, and then, when he'd been blown out of the water, came back with "well, the translation website did it, it's not my fault" as though he bore absolutely no responsibility for determining the accuracy of the translation, or even writing the post.)
Wouldn't be so bad, but they just can't "man up". That's a consistent, serious conservative personality defect, IMO.
There's a textbook example in this thread: http://www.collarchat.com/m_1772253/tm.htm

Peace, Sister.

Gosh, looks like liberals are only liberal about their own point of view.

~Christina (conservative who is often accused of being a liberal, and who wonders why we all have to be pegged into such itty bitty boxes)

Perhaps if you knew who and what Hippie was referencing, you'd understand why it was necessary to 'isolate' - it's very hard to tolerate intolerance, but all in all, I think we did a pretty classy job :-) .

I don't block anyone but only because I know that my posts vary depending on how I feel at the time.  I try to read everyone, even those who I know have diametrically opposed world view.  I do sometimes struggle reading a long post in really idiomatic English and skip chunks, though.  I would want people to do as much for me, so it seems only fair.

Plus, this feeling that people are talking behind one's back  ... not the most pleasant  .

When I read the thread you referenced, it just seemed to me as if the TheHeretic ate your lunch, and this is just a childish attempt on your part to get some "amens" from the "amen corner".

The discussions about Kerry and Vietnam atrocities, or Kerry's war record?  Perhaps there is some truth on both sides of the issue, and a  dis-interested understanding of how politics are played - on both sides, at times - might lead a reasonable person to conclude that the "liberal" side of those questions has as much mud in their eyes as anyone.

The only "consistent, serious conservative personality defect" I saw was trying to engage in a rational discussion with someone who claims "liberalism" as their church.

The "consistent, serious "liberal" personality defect" I saw displayed was smug self-righteous, a narrow-minded belief in the "liberal" narrative of how ignorant, unworthy, stupid, criminal etc, all conservatives are.

Intolerance in other words.  It's the "liberal" mindset.

The only thing worse than people talking about you is people not talking about you - good enough for Oscar, good enough for me.

Yeah?  Comes with the rider that when people talk about you more than to you, how the fuck do they know what they're talking about?

Which is why gossip is mostly complete crap. People don't know what the fuck they're talking about when they're talking about other people.

Et la boucle est bouclĂ©e.

Your tongue's hanging out a little, which is slightly distracting, but it's fascinating how the way people are acting on the boards corroborates the theory behind the thread :-) .

The loop... the loop is closed off. It's the equivalent to 'a vicious circle' I guess.

If my tongue hanging out is slightly distracting, what would be totally distracting?

As for corroboration of the "theory" ... I think selective perception biases are more likely the reason for the apparent (and completely fallacious) support of the "theory".

Best thing I've heard all day.

Plus, you could have written "the thinking man's muffin", which would have totally sucked ass (trying to fit in with the locals here).
