I used to work for a pretty popular place here. I worked close to 60 hrs a week, starting at 4am for an opening of 11... I was responsible for all the baking, all the morning prep, the morning staff, if someone didnt come in, guess what I was now responsible for their job too. I made a whole 7 an hour doing this. I never asked to be put in the spot of running their kitchen but the chef quit and so did the morning manager, I was next in line for experience, lucky me... About 3 months later they hired some kid straight out of college gave him the manager job, benefits, and double what I was making, and all he did was stand around and bitch at the rest of us while we worked our asses off. Did anything come out of "my" kitchen half assed, not while I was there it didnt. I fixed recipes, got rave reviews for the changes I made, all for what.. 2 months later the manager cut my hours to 14 a week and still expected me there at 4am to do all the baking.. right nothing like expecting the impossible... after about a week of trying to get everything done that *I* needed to do and failing miserably I walked out.. told him since he had the degree then he should get off his high horse and help instead of making it impossible to work there. About 4 months after I left so did the majority of the staff that I worked with, the buisness went to shit, changed owners, and eventually failed, they sold to someone else. Before you go ranting about what you saw for 5 minutes, try walking in the shoes of the people there. I dont know what kind of job that you have, but spend a day in the real world with the shitty pay, lack of benefits, masses of hours, and no personal gains... then you tell me just how easy it should be to get right.
