Status: offline 		Has anyone tried wearing duct tape over their mouth at night to prevent snoring? I would think that would be very effective, but someone told me it isn't safe. Wouldn't a person wake up if their nose got clogged and be able to remove it without any danger, providing they weren't bound? Or is it only unsafe if the person is bound?

Status: offline 		Most people snore because they have bad sinuses or sleep apnea. I have to breathe through my mouth because I am likely congested. tape over mouth is a bad idea.

Status: offline 		Before that, try Breathe Right strips from the drugstore, also there's some spray that's supposed to reduce snoring. If you suffer from allergies, treat them. Take decongestents. But closing off the mouth when the nose is blocked is not such a bright idea. You have to get air from somewhere.

Oh, and if you wear pjs, try sewing a marble in a little pouch on the back so you don't sleep on your back. That's an old trick.

And see your doctor to diagnose the problem.

Status: offline 		One way Mistress got around my snoring was that She would fall asleep before me and would not hear my snores. Sometimes weight loss or using a humidifier can cure snoring. I know i smore the worst when i have dry air during the winter. So you might want to give the humidifier a try. If not, then i hope your Dominant has a nice comfy play bed or couch, lol, because that is where Mistress sent me one night.

Status: offline 		For me earplugs work sometimes but other times i just have to go into the living room and sleep there for a few hours as the first hour my guy falls asleep i find is the worst....i have been told i snore too but i guess not too loud as no one ever had to go in another room and sleep!

I've never had a preponderance to cause singular suffocation upon myself, so I'd be hard pressed to delve in to this, however...I should add....if I were of a preponderance to put duct tape on my person...enough such, and at a level compromising my oxygen intake that it impeded my ability to discuss state politics with anyone who had a reason to force me to be somewhat vituperative....something tells me that "snoring" would be the least of my concerns.

No.  Sleep apnea (not being able to breathe at night) is potentially life-threatening.

Status: offline 		I have sleep apnea.   I have to sleep with a CPAP machine (damn thing costs $2,000)  I quit breathing according to lab studies an average between 34 - 48 times an hour.  Snoring is a symptom of sleep apnea.   The CPAP machine blows air past the blockage that causes snoring with sufficient force that I only quit breathing 4-6 times an hour.   Tiredness is also a symptom of sleep apnea.   When I quit breathing I momentarily wake up, realize I have quit breathing and restart, returning to sleep (happens so quick that you don't even realize that you wake up but the point is that you don't rest according to my pulmonologist).  Whether you breathe through your mouth or thru your nose you still stop breathing.   By blocking off the mouth, if the snorer has any sinus drainage, could cause them to suffocate.

Status: offline 		if they have sleep apnea this is dangerous. When you stop breathing u chance a stroke. Please, please if you snore GET TESTED!
If you have sleep apnea you will need a machine that will blow air forcefully down your throat to keep you from possibly dying due to starvation of oxygen.
U have to wear a mask every night and even if you take a short nap.
Pardon if i repeated anybody. I have sleep apnea and it truly sucks. Even if i finish losing my weight i am told i will never, ever be off of this thing.

Status: offline 		 I knew something was wrong when i was so tired all the time and i felt as if i would fall asleep at the wheel! I thought i was sleeping more than usual and still had no relief. I contacted my Dr. Immediately!!!!
I had an appt made and went and had to bring a machine home and have it hooked up to me. It recorded how many times during the night that i stopped breathing. I had to take a class on cpap machine use. Within a week or so i had a cpap machine.
 
Basically i am sure it saved my life. I could have had a stroke!

I bought these for my husband and they help a lot.  I can still hear him snoring, but the volume has gone down significantly, and I'm no longer tempted to smother him on a daily basis.

Status: offline 		Snoring can  also be calmed with the use of a small spray of anti snoring oils ,(Snore-eze),into the back of the mouth. The oil  contains amongst other things, peppermint, the menthol does help.

Snoring can also be due to drinking alcohol or smoking, something to do with the palate relaxing and there vibrating with the passage of air, sort of flag in the wind effect.

Good thing about snoring though, the purpetrator definately gets a good old lungfull of air when they snore. This increased lungfull sort of thing, might be a response to the snoring.

Status: offline 		When my sub snores and wakes me up I make him go into another room. My ex had sleep apnea very bad and he snored like a grizzly bear with its foot caught in a trap so many nights I slept on the couch until I finally moved him into his own room. I no longer tolerate snoring now that Im divorced, I tell the sub go to the guest room.

Status: offline 		Learning how to circular breathe while playing the Dijiridoo, helps open the passages and lessens snoring in mild cases.  Play for 10 minutes before bed and it does help.

Windchymes is right on the money! My ex-wife snored like a jet engine with tuberculosis, but gel-based earplugs ensured I got a peaceful sleep every single night.

Tape over the nose is a placebo, at best.
