Actually, I think there are several factors - including the overdiagnosis, but, there is a correlation between ADD and higher intelligence. I have a daughter that had a lot of behavior problems in school and was diagnosed ADD, ODD, OCD...when the reality of it is that she has a genious IQ, and was B-A-D. I refused to put her on medicine, worked with a behavior counselor, and now (granted- years later and a lot of work) she is doing great.

I would love to hear more about that AM.  It is so glaringly apparent that my oldest has ADD as well and while I am quick to put myself on all sorts of medication, I want to avoid medicating her if at all possible...

For what it's worth, some people can train their minds to overcome a lot of ADD issues.  I was diagnosed with ADD, OCD and Dyslexia, and have not been medicated for any of them.  It took a LOT of mental work (and physical, too), and while in times of above average stress I have trouble controlling it, I did overcome a lot of detrimental behaviors by learning to eat right, exercise, and with a lot of mental exercises that were, at times, exhausting.  It doesn't mean I don't have ADD, OCD, LMNOP, XYZ anymore, but it means I can be aware of and control the symptoms.  It may just be that my versions of this alphabet soup are mild, but it was an effort worth embarking on for me.

I wish you and your daughter well.

LMAO...everyone I know from my era has ADD or ADHD...75% are certified by doctors the rest are just general flakes...just like me :)

Its a gerational epidemic...not a liftstyle thing...my pagan friends...friends from college...surfing friends....photography friends...all of them claim ADD to some extent...
100 years ago it didnt exsist now everyone has it...I think its just means that some people are not able (by teaching or wiring) to pay attention...Tv, video games, I can paint for hours or plat everquest for DAYS...and not blink an eye...I have a hard time how ever listening to someone who is giving me directions, or a list of things to do...I have no idea what the first word was and sometimes not the last...LOL
my 2 cents

I think its more that more and more of society in general has been diagnosed with it, not that more and more kinky people have it. We're just a small sampling of society.
