DO you display any flags at your home?

I have 2: the Scottish flag (the St. Andrews cross, not the Rampant Lion..I'm not a Stewart), because of my Scots heritage.  And the LEather pride flag.
I'd have a US flag, except according to the US Flag code it must be lit at night, or taken down. It also must be displayed higher than any other flags.  Since I'm a ditz and dont trust myself to remember to take it down at sunset, don't have a way to light it at night, and don't have a flagpole, I just have a small, bandanna type one displayed over the window on my front door.

Union Flag Blue Pantone 280 Websafe #003399 RGB 0,13.5, 39
Union Flag Red Pantone 186 Websafe #cc0000  RGB 85.9,11.7,13.8

Etched on my heart these flag specifications are.[8|]

GreedyTop -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 3:21:44 PM)

ack! all I got was a color chart!

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 3:29:54 PM)

Yep these are the true colours of the union flag and RGB is the red green blue percentages of each colour as used in windows. I could show you what the union flag looks like but you already know.

Some people call it the union jack but it’s only a union jack if displayed on a ship. If the union flag is displayed upside down it is a sign of distress. You may think the flag has vertical symmetry but it obviously doesn’t.

I'm not a big flyer of the flag to answer your op.

DesFIP -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 3:34:55 PM)

None. However it's the custom on the summer community I go to to fly a flag of the various homelands of the people in the house that weekend. Since we would have had to fly three minimum every weekend with various others as they came and went, it's one tradition we've never taken part of. Not enough room in the house to store two dozen flags for the occasional visitors.

I have a veterans flag, US Flag, Army Flag.   I gave my Blue star service flag to the mom of a Marine after my son retired from the Army

Taintedblood -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 3:39:07 PM)

i have never had a flag in my house - is this an americanism so to speak or people in general?

kittinSol -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 3:45:10 PM)

Since you asked... I was actually going to post this on the controversy thread, but...

I hate flags. Doesn't matter which ones: never liked them. I don't mind those little yellow ones that ornate ski slopes, but if someone waves a national flag anywhere around me... well, get ready for some serious naggin'.

What irks me the most though: the ones that fly proudly on the front lawn of average homes.

I'm ready for the fallout [:D] .

Taintedblood -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 3:50:10 PM)

do people really have flags on their lawns?

kittinSol -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 3:52:40 PM)

Visited middle-America recently? They're fucking everywhere [:D] .

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 3:54:24 PM)

I thought that said flags on lawn mowers for a minute.

Now that would be entertainment.[8|]

Ok, I have SEEN that !!

chellekitty -> RE: Flags (2/9/2008 4:15:47 PM)

i'm not quite sure the layout of your flag flying...but the only time the US flag must be displayed "higher than any other flag" is when you are displaying them all on one flag pole....which you don't even have...here is a link to a page listing flag etiquette... http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html

i personally don't display any flags at my home, but i have seen some really awesome displays of the leather and gay pride flags at national events, outside major hotels, that it was just really cool to step outside and gaze up at...

anywho...thats all for now

And so often improperly and disrepectfully displayed.

Ok, I guess I had misread it.. I thought that the rule was that when displayed with other flags that the US flag was to be displayed HIGHER thna others... regardless of which pole it was hung on.. my bad :)
