Read the article.  The MSNBC fellow said that the Clintons were "pimping out" their daughter.  It may piss off the Clintons that he said it, but it's the damn truth.  The truth hurts, and the Clintons should know that.  They go irate when a journalist tries to question her, but they send her around the country to promote her mother and father's politics.  Politics is a dirty game, and if you can't take the tackles then you shouldn't play.  It's just more of the Clinton hypocracy at it's finest.  Fake outrage is a hallmark of the Clintons.

Seems to me he hit the nail on the head.   but that is two men's opinion

DomKen -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 3:50:51 PM)

How is Chelsea making some phone calls being pimped out? I know a guy who owns a roofing business whose daughter has done cold calling to get work for the company. Want to guess what my friend would do if you said he pimped his daughter out? Would you want to be face to face when you did it?

Don't make claims about the Clintons behaviour being unusual when a moments reflection would show that the Clintons are exercising restraint in dealing with stuff like this.

KenDckey -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 3:55:16 PM)

If the Clintons can't handle the heat then they should keep their dau out of politics.   Do I believe they are pimping her.   yes    Why?   They get free media coverage about woe is me

Chelsea is no more "pimped out" than the Bill half of Billary.  Familial support on the campaign trail is a longstanding tradition in the US.  Lack of obvious family support is a definite negative for a political candidate (especially in my eyes).

Shuster was out of line.

Hillary doesn't ban Bill from talking to reporters.  Chelsea wouldn't even answer a little girl writing for a elementary school newspaper, because she doesn't talk to reporters.  Well, if you don't want talk to the press than get the fuck off of the soapbox.

Like the fake outrage exhibited by Dick Cheney (lesbian daughter) or Newt Gingrich (lesbian sister)  did it sound anything like that?

Eliot Ness

DesFIP -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 4:08:04 PM)

Pimping her out? Since when is showing public support of a parent in politics equal to being forced to have sex with strangers for money? Any candidate expects their family to be supportive. The Clintons have given their daughter as much privacy as is possible for a political family.

So how is working behind the scenes "pimping"?

There's plenty of good reasons to loathe the Clintons--beginning with their worn out warmed over Trotsky-ist  politics.  Having Chelsea work the phones behind the scenes isn't among them.

Ergo...Shuster was out of line.

What are you talking about?  I don't remember anyone in the Cheney or Gingrich camps banning the media from talking to their adult family members.  In fact they readily talked to them, and I remember most people (even conservatives) being gracious towards both.  Your comparison holds no merit.

mnottertail -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 4:28:48 PM)

your mind holds no memory. horse apiece, I guess. I can feature that.

cyberdude611 -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 4:59:16 PM)

I think the point is that she is campaigning for Hillary but wont allow the press to ask questions. She even insulted a 9-year old about that.

And that's not going over well in the media. If they dont want her involved in the political game....then have her sit out on the sidelines somewhere. The Clintons are trying to have it both ways.

Mitt Romney's sons did a lot of campaigning for their dad and they talked to the media all the time.

domiguy -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 5:00:31 PM)

There seems to be a common thread amongst the first two people who participated on this thread.....Obviously conservative with a bone to pick....Why should it be different if the daughter supporting her parents is a Dem or a Rep? Why should it be acceptable to label them as a whore because they support their parents?

""He's older, but he doesn't act old," Meghan continued. "He's full of energy. He really stays up to date on pop-culture issues, too."

In fact, to Meghan's surprise, she discovered one day that her dad was actually fond of a particular female rapper.

"People seem to think he only listens to really old music," she said. "But I was telling someone he really likes Lauryn Hill. I borrowed his car once in D.C., and I was like, looking through [his] CDs, and I was like, 'Oh, Lauryn Hill.'"

"I know he's not as sexy as Obama and interesting and young and fresh," she said. "But I definitely still think he has an appeal. It's not important to him [to be sexy]. I think Obama's cute, so ... I see why people are, just on a very superficial level, drawn to him."

But Meghan feels that it's her father who hits the right notes when it comes to the youth and that, ultimately, he resonates more with that voting bloc than his opponents do.

"His issues — global warming, the war — and he listens to young people and really takes an initiative," she added, "which I don't think a lot of politicians do."

I suppose it is only a matter of time till "slaveboyfor you" starts a thread about that "horrid whore"....Meghan McCain. Ooops it might not further his personal agenda....No one cares about the truth...Just attach your name to it and send it on...Don't be responsible enough to give the subject some honest thought or introspect. Simply Pathetic!

What is wrong with you? Seeing KenDckey chime in on thread after thread on any topic where he can shed a Dem in a negative light has gotten rather tiresome...As for the op it just goes to show how some people are just unable to view things in any type of an honest light if it will further a personal agenda. Does anyone ever care about how they are perceived by others? Or what is right or decent?

         Bingo.

Bill and Hillary are very good at trying to have the cake, and eat it to.  Kinda like Hillary trying to claim the mantle of feminism while sending her husband out to do the dirty work.

The kids should be left out of the ugly fucked up part of politics.

That`s always been the case,I guess till now.

Some folks will stoop and lick scum off rocks and yet others seem to think that`s ok and buy into it.

One is just as fucked up as the other.

Owner, I agree.  But Chelsea isn't a kid.  She is a grown woman who is highly educated.  I don't have anything against her, and I don't know much about her.  I don't make judgments on people I don't know.  I am judging the Clintons, who I know well.  I know they are using her, because a lot of people are curious about Chelsea.  She draws crowds, and that's fine.  But the Clintons need to make up their mind.  Either cut the umbilical cord and allow her to explain her assertions to the press, or keep her away from making speeches and active politics.

OmegaG -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 8:34:48 PM)

Though I'm not a fan of the Clintons, I don't beleive that anyone deserves to have their life dictated to them by the media and I'm getting a bit tired of their strong arm tactics where a person who asks for privacy is considered hostile.

I'm sick of the power of the media in general.  So many people don't think anymore, they just read skewed articles in biased papers and take it as the gospel truth.

Muttling -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 8:36:36 PM)

The Clintons have a LOT more justification to complain about this than that puss ass Cheney did when Edwards mentioned his gay daughter in the debates.   (Especially considering the fact that Chenney brought her up earlier in the same debate.)

Hey slaveboy,

It`s cool that she or any kid of a pol is involved. My point is to keep the shit throwing to the parents, not the children.

Before Bill Clinton`s terms,no one touched the family."Billy Beer" Carter was another story,b/c he brought that upon himself.

We can roast the Clintons and keep Chelsea out of it.

Zensee -> RE: MSNBC's Chelsea comment angers Clinton (2/8/2008 8:50:21 PM)

sbfy, cyberdude, Heretic and the rest of the "stay out of the kitchen" crowd - It has exactly ZERO to do with any one in the Clinton clan's conduct towards the press and everything to do with a boorish newsman stepping over the line. There are any number of terms one might choose to describe candidates using their adult children to campaign but "pimping" is just crude and unnecessary.

Z.
