Status: offline 		I saw the collarme status thread go by, but everytime I try to click on it, it ethier leads to a blank page, or it doesn't do anything. Whats up with that?

The scroller runs on a server that isn't affected by the hardware outage.  Adding the status update to the scroller isn't increasing the load on any already-burdened subsystem, but thank you for your concern.

You may have noticed that the post said something along the lines of there being a hardware failure, so they were operating at a lesser level of service....hence....operating in such a fashion as to be able to use less computing power...i.e., scrolling.

(Of course, people clicking on that link/post forced the computer to respond to it, requiring MORE effort and draw on the available CPU and bandwidth....naturally, just the opposite of what the owners, no doubt, were hoping the highly capable and thoughtful users of this service....would attempt, having posted that notice in the hopes that others might presume not to add additional load until it was repaired).

Status: offline 		       Are the problems just on the other side?  I'm not noticing anything different on the forums.  Also, other than leaving, is there anything we can do to reduce the strain on the working hardware?

Status: offline 		The forums are unaffected by the problem with the single exception of users whose primary profile photo is their forum avatar.  Those images may take a long time to load or fail with a SQL error.

Status: offline 		      So, if I turn off the "display avatar" setting, it sounds like that would cut some demand on the other side.  I can do that.


    Add:  So much for that idea.  It turned off the individual avatars, and kept the main profile pics.  I am SO not a tech-person.
